On March 22, 2024, the first Seminar on Science and Technology Empowering Agricultural Risk Reduction, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to Help the High-quality Development of Agricultural Insurance was held at Wuhan University. With the theme of "Driven by Science and Technology, Digital Intelligence Rejuvenates Agriculture", the seminar was jointly organized by Hubei Luojia Laboratory, Jiahe Science and Technology and Wuhan University Institute of Surveying and Mapping, and experts and scholars from academia, industry and insurance industry gathered together to seek high-quality development strategies for agricultural insurance.
At the beginning of the meeting, Yan Li, deputy dean of the School of Surveying and Mapping of Wuhan University, Jin Taoyong, deputy director of Hubei Luojia Laboratory, and Leng Wei, founder and general manager of Jiahe Technology, delivered speeches respectively, expressing the necessity of deep integration and effective link in the field of cutting-edge research, application of achievements, industrial development, social services and other aspects in the field of agricultural remote sensing technology, hoping to promote the integration of industry, university and research by promoting the construction and operation of the joint laboratory, and realize the application of "air, space, ground" big data represented by high-resolution satellite remote sensing data in the construction of digital villages.

Subsequently, Long Wenjun, Director of the Financial and Insurance Research Office of the Rural Economic Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Lin Changqing, senior expert of agricultural insurance of Chinese People's Insurance Company, Zhou Wenjie, Secretary General of the Risk Protection Branch of China Disaster Prevention Association, Liu Kequn, chief expert of agricultural meteorology of Hubei Meteorological Bureau, Liu Bing, deputy general manager of Jiahe Science and Technology, Li Zhigang, deputy general manager of the Agricultural Insurance Department of Taiping Property Insurance Co., Ltd., Wu Xueming, deputy general manager of the strategic planning department of China Insurance Group Corporation, Tao Jianping, professor of the School of Economics and Management of Huazhong Agricultural University and director of the Central China Agricultural Risk Management Research Center, Huang Jinwen, founder of ClimateHedge, a weather risk management company in the United States, and Huang Piyuan, co-founder of Wuhan Zhiwei Technology Co., Ltd., gave wonderful speeches on the interpretation of agricultural policies, agricultural risk reduction practices, and foreign advanced experience, providing new impetus, new directions and new perspectives for agricultural digital transformation and agricultural risk reduction.
In the roundtable forum of ""Policy + Industry + Technology" Integration to Jointly Promote the High-quality Development of Agricultural Insurance", Professor Feng Wenli of Hebei University of Economics and Business, as the host, and Lin Changqing, Wu Xueming, Tao Jianping, Xie Dongsheng, Li Zhigang, Leng Wei and other guests conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on core issues such as policy support, scientific and technological innovation, and agricultural insurance market development.
