In February 2024, new car sales in Germany grew modestly. Sales increased by 5.4% y/y to 217,388 units to nearly 220,000 units. This is the smallest increase among the top 5 European markets. On a year-on-year basis, sales were 11.8% to 430,941 units sold in January-February 2024.

Tesla's plummeting sales have led to a decline in the share of battery electric vehicles. Sales volume decreased by 15.4% year-on-year to 27,479 units, with a share of 12.6%. It was 15.6% in the same period last year.
