Dongchen Ancestral Hall
The phoenix tail lies high on the roof, and the delicately carved figures of flowers and birds curl up on the pillars. "The Book of the Ministry of War", "Deshou" and other plaques are hung high in the hall, which is the ancestral hall of the Chen family built in the Qing Dynasty.
Dongchen Ancestral Hall is located on the east side of Dongchen Natural Village, Wucun Administrative Village, Punan Street, and was built in the 60th year of Kangxi (1721). In the autumn of the 21st year of Qianlong (1756), the construction of the Shrine of Merit and the Ancestral Hall of Merit was restarted, and the current scale was completed, which lasted 26 years.
The ancestral hall of the Chen family sits in the north and faces south, and is a three-in-five building. The gate of the middle hall is painted with a pair of officials dressed in court clothes, and the couplets on both sides: "The ninth generation cohabits in the Northern Song Dynasty, and the harmony is still seen in the East Chen", which means that the ninth generation of the Chen family in the Northern Song Dynasty lives together, and the East Chen has been in harmony so far.
According to the "Chen Family Tree", Chen Yimen lived together for the ninth generation, with more than 700 young and old, all of whom spoke in harmony, and sat in a group at every meal; there were more than 100 dogs, and 100 dogs ate together, and before a dog arrived, the dogs did not eat.
The gate enters the stage, the common rest on the top of the mountain, the ridge is kissed, the brick carving is applied on the ridge, the eaves are dripping at the head of the ditch, and the four wing angles are raised high, such as the flying phoenix spreading its wings. The stage was expanded in the winter of 1914 and inaugurated in the winter of 1915.
The stage is finely carved, especially the corbel carving is extremely exquisite, it is the work of Zhou Guanghong, a famous wood carver in Pujiang, and there are more than 60 characters of the Three Kingdoms on a single corbel.
Inside, there is a spacious and magnificent atrium. In addition to the large plaque of "Dunmutang" hanging in the center, there are more than 20 plaques of various dynasties such as Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties around.
It is worth mentioning that the four golden pillars in the center are made of four kinds of trees, cypress, catalpa, paulownia, and tsubaki, which means "a hundred sons in the same spring", in order to pray for the continuation of the family, and also have the meaning of many descendants of the nine generations living together.
There are also large maps of China and the world painted on the east wall, and the ink is outdated.
The last dormitory enshrines the portraits of several ancestors of the Chen family, including Chen Yan, the secretary of the military department, and Chen Jishan, the ancestor who moved to Pujiang.
In January 2011, Dongchen Ancestral Hall was also listed as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.
The carved fence is still there, Zhu Yan has been changed, and then look at the Dongchen ancestral hall, the passage of time in a hundred years has left all the traces of vicissitudes, but it also witnesses and records the bits and pieces of the Chen family from ancient times to the present.
