Apple Vision Pro pre-sale: sold out within 18 minutes, and the purchase price will increase by tens of thousands!
At 21:00 p.m. on January 19, Apple's Vision Pro officially opened pre-sales in the United States.
The official offers three versions: 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, with prices of $3,499 (about 25,000 yuan), $3,699 (about 26,600 yuan), and $3,899 (about 28,000 yuan) respectively.
Although the starting price is as high as 25,000 yuan, the order is still hot, and within 5 minutes of the scheduled sale, the reservation server of Vision Pro was crowded, and many people's orders could not be processed.
Due to the lack of stock at the beginning, the stock was sold out within 18 minutes of the order, and the delivery date was already scheduled for March and some even to April 2 hours after the order was opened.
It should be pointed out that this pre-sale is only available in the United States, and users must have an Apple ID in the United States and place an order on the official website to order.
At the same time, during the order process, Apple needs to call Face ID to scan the consumer's face to match the most suitable headset and mask size, and even some netizens cannot place an order because their necks cannot be turned to the angle required by Apple, which also makes it more difficult to order.
In addition, it is worth noting that Apple recently announced that it will offer a 25% discount on the purchase of the Vision Pro hybrid headset by employees. In other words, Apple employees can save about $875 (currently about 6,296 yuan) when they buy Vision Pro, and they can get it for less than 20,000 yuan. It seems that the first batch of equipment is likely to be snapped up by internal employees, after all, even if they are not used for their own use, this 25% arbitrage space is also exciting.
Under the combination of various factors, the purchase price of Apple Vision Pro has risen, and domestic third-party platforms show that overseas purchasing needs to increase the price by at least 7000 yuan, and the general price increase is tens of thousands of yuan.
In terms of specific configuration, Vision Pro uses two small Micro OLED screens + 3P Pancake solution, with 23 million pixels, a single eye resolution of more than 4K, and a wide color and high dynamic range. The result is a cinematic video viewing experience that zooms the screen beyond the room. In terms of processor, the Vision Pro adopts a self-developed M2+R1 dual-chip design, in which the R1 chip can transmit images to the display within 12 milliseconds, achieving almost no delay in real-time transmission. In terms of human-computer interaction, in order to improve the user experience, the interaction of Vision Pro abandons the common methods such as handles, and instead adopts a variety of integrated interaction methods such as eye tracking, gestures, and voice. At the same time, Apple has also introduced Optic ID as an iris scanning system for the Vision Pro to verify user identity, as well as support for Apple Pay purchases, among other security-related elements.
According to market research firm TrendForce, the main challenges faced by the Vision Pro are: insufficient battery life, insufficient application, and low price. Some of these bottlenecks are expected to be solved, and the key limitation is the Micro OLED supplied by Sony, which currently has a production yield of only about 5%, resulting in the cost of 2 Micro OLED panels as high as $700. TrendForce predicts that Vision Pro shipments will likely reach 500,000 to 600,000 units in 2024.
