And there is only one kind of tree on the mountain, the hickory tree!
We contacted a fruit grower who was already busy in the mountains and took us to his walnut grove.
Almost all of his family are old trees, basically more than 25 years old, some even as high as 50 years, and the trees can reach as high as four stories.
Without any fertilizer, it grows naturally and savagely, and the fruit is larger and fuller.

It is also because of the steep and dangerous terrain that the machine is not useful at all, and can only manually hit the pecans: climb the walnut tree 4 stories high with bare hands, standing on the branches that are only the thickness of the wrist...

The fallen pecans had to be picked up one by one, and the elderly and women who could not generally go up the tree took on this job.
As we climbed up the hill, we saw growers picking up pecans that had fallen naturally ahead of schedule.

Because pecans fall very scattered and are easily stuck in the rocks on the slopes, growers will pile and hang nets in order not to miss any walnuts.
Looking down from the top of the mountain, most of the hickory forest is covered with large nets, and the fruit growers are already doing the finishing work of the nets.

This time on the mountain, I really understand the reason for the high price of pecans.
Every pecan we can eat in our mouths is really hard-won.
The price remains the same, as last year. 3 cans of 79 yuan, 6 cans of 149 yuan, almost the cost price;
Every day, fruit growers have to carry hundreds of pounds of pecans down the steep slope and walk a few miles to transport them home.
This is followed by de-pu, screening, drying, artificial water sorting, steaming... Waiting for 18 processes, 100 pounds of walnuts only produce 5 pounds of nuts.
