This 988.2-kilometer-long tourist highway around the island, erecting 142 bridges, running through 12 cities and counties along the coast of Hainan, will be 21 tourist resorts and 261 coastal places of interest and historic sites beaded into a chain, a total of 9 categories and 84 sections of landscape, including Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, Daxiaodongtian Tourism Zone, Wuzhizhou Island Tourism Area, Boundary Island Tourism Area and other 4 5A-level scenic spots, is the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port and the creation of an international tourism consumption center of the pilot major infrastructure projects.
Since the opening of the whole line on December 18, 2023, the tourist road around the island has been full of traffic and passengers, and this New Year's Day holiday is especially popular. What are the impressive beautiful scenery along the way, and what is the significance to Hainan's economic and social development? Crossing the Longluan River Bridge to the north, the tourist road around the island is built along the mountain and the sea, winding all the way. After passing the Zhengmenling Bridge, the vehicle seems to be driving on the cliff, and the vast sea is close at hand. Overlooking from the bridge, you can see the entire Shanqin Bay. Not far from the bridge, there is the famous scenic spot Swallow Cave. The Wanning section of the tourist highway around the island is 96 kilometers long, which can be described as a bridge and a landscape.
"Hainan is full of beautiful scenery. However, all along, the attractions are scattered and the transportation is inconvenient. The tourist road around the island is like a line, stringing together nearly 2,000 miles of beaches, wetlands, pastorals, coconut groves and other landscapes along the way. Driving all the way, people seem to be swimming in the middle of the painting.
In the Mulan Bay section of Wenchang, more than 30 giant white windmills line the curvy coastline. Windmills spin slowly, waves crash against the reef, and moving stalls crowd tourists. "Before, it was all dirt roads, and only windmill maintenance vehicles came in and out. Now that the highway is open, the beautiful scenery will be 'alive' at once. Zhou Jing, deputy project manager of the first work area of the tourist highway project around the island, told reporters.
The opening of the tourist road around the island has brought fire to self-driving tours. According to the data, during the New Year's Day holiday, Sanya and Haikou entered the top three popular lists of self-driving tourist cities in the country, and the car rental orders in the two places increased by more than 50% month-on-month, and nearly ninety percent of the orders came from foreign tourists.
Yingge Treading Wave Station in Ledong Li Autonomous County is one of the three earliest key tourist stations along the tourist highway around the island. The design is inspired by the Li "boat-shaped house", where visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the local salt pan "Sky Realm". During the New Year's Day holiday, the post station held activities such as free room accommodation and free tea to attract tourists. The popularity of the tourist highway around the island has led to the vigorous momentum of tourism on the whole island of Hainan. During the New Year's Day holiday, Hainan province received 1,717,100 tourists, up 68.9 percent year-on-year, total tourism revenue reached 2.406 billion yuan, up 60.1 percent year-on-year, and tourism orders increased by 147 percent year-on-year.
The Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports has launched a self-driving guide for the tourist highway around the island, which not only provides 4 different styles of theme gameplay such as island humanities, sports and sea, nature exploration, and volcanic fishing port, but also recommends 99 check-in methods, 40 Internet celebrity check-in points, and 3 new island experiences.
A total of 70 viewing platforms and parking areas are planned on the whole line of the tourist highway around the island, 45 observation decks have been opened, 21 parking areas have also been put into use, and the remaining 4 parking areas will be completed and put into use in 2024. In addition, the construction of highway stations, new energy supply stations, and smart cloud control centers is still being stepped up, and the future highway network will be networked into a piece and the scenic spots will be strung into a chain, which will better realize the "entering, slowing down, and staying" of tourists.
Minsheng Road——
Convenient travel and industrial development
"After the bridge was opened, the traffic became more and more convenient, and I could rest assured that I would be able to retire!" said Yang Yinsheng, a villager in Nanluo Village, Changjiang Li Autonomous County.
In the past, a Zhubi River ran between Nanluo Village and Yanding Village in Danzhou City. To go to a neighboring village, the villagers had to take Yang Yinsheng's 3-meter-wide ferry for half an hour. Cars and trucks detour around the island expressway, which takes longer.
Now, with the successful closure of the Zhubijiang Bridge, the time for vehicles to travel between the two sides of the strait has been shortened from nearly 2 hours to 10 minutes. The bridge was built by China Railway Second Bureau, with a length of 3,072 meters, which is the longest bridge in the whole line of the Ring Island Tourist Highway Project.
A bridge flies across the smoke and waves, and the opening of traffic replaces the ferry, which brings real convenience to the villagers.
"The completion of the tourist highway around the island will improve the transportation efficiency of the highway network, which is conducive to the development of tourism resources and economic and social development of cities and counties along the route. Zheng Yongzeng, the person in charge of the third and fourth work area, introduced that the tourist road around the island is not only a "tourist road", but also a "people's livelihood road". At the beginning of the route planning, the people along the route looked forward to improving travel and developing industries.
"From Lingaojiao, the northernmost part of Lingao County, to Bingmajiao, the northernmost section of Danzhou City, the coastline is tortuous and the bay is abundant. Yang Tao, secretary of the Party branch of the Ring Island Tourist Highway Project of the Second Public Bureau of CCCC, said that this journey not only allows tourists to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the river and the sea, but also passes through the Yangpu thousand-year-old salt pans, Fubo Temple and other places of interest, "There is great tourism potential." ”
Just two years ago, there was not a single coastal road in the area, and the development was relatively backward. Longhao Village is a natural village under Changgong Village, Lincheng Town, Lingao County, adjacent to Hainan Liberation Park, only a few kilometers away from Lingao County, but only connected to the outside world by a narrow village road. You can't get fish, you can't get in.
"In June 2023, after the functional opening of the tourist road around the island, there are better sales channels for seafood and crops in the village. Nowadays, a 2-kilometer cycling path has been built in front of Longhao Village, attracting many tourists returning from Hainan Liberation Park. Environmental Protection Road——
Make room for trees, and give priority to ecology
Under the warm winter sun, on a green space in Mangrove Bay, Dafeng Town, Chengmai County, three big trees stand quietly, only a few meters away from the tourist road around the island. The three trees are all more than 100 years old, and they are hung with ancient and famous tree protection signs, and the protection lines are pulled up around them.
"The original planned route covered these 3 old trees. The most economical option is transplantation, but it takes a lot of risk to the tree. Wu Tongguo, deputy chief engineer of the Sixth Work Zone, told reporters, "In the end, we chose an uneconomical but environmentally friendly method: change the original line plan, and the project will make way for trees." ”
After communicating with Hainan Provincial Communications Investment Holding Co., Ltd., the main line of the tourist road around the island in the Dafeng Town section was moved several meters aside, avoiding ancient trees, so the construction cost of 100,000 yuan was increased. "What is spent more is the 'small money' on the project cost, and it is the 'big account' for ecological protection. Wu Tongguo said.
Chengmai "vacates land for trees", and Danzhou "builds roads for frogs".
Drive slowly, and there is a sound of frogs on the side of the road. In the Danzhou section of the tourist highway around the island, there is a culvert with a width and height of 2 meters and a total length of 22.5 meters. Inside the passage, there are concrete steps on the left and a waterway on the right, paved with gravel blocks.
"There is a frog habitat nearby, where frogs such as the tiger striped frog, a national second-class key protected wild animal, live. Crossing the highway may affect the migration and breeding of frogs. Qiu Pengfei, a project engineer at China Consulting Group, the construction party of the project, proposed, "Find a way to let the frogs 'cross the road' safely." ”
After more than four months of field surveys and field investigations, the protection plan of the "frog walkway" was finalized. "There are two roads left in the culvert. Usually, the frog 'walks' the waterway on the right side and passes along the stones. During the rainy season, take the steps on the left. Qiu Pengfei said.
This is the first ecological passage on the tourist road around the island that is specially designed for amphibians. Outside the passage, the project team also replanted duckweed and other aquatic plants in the wetland according to the frog Xi, and paved a more than 500-meter-long guided migration corridor with gravel blocks.
Building roads for frogs, building slopes for fish, leaving nests for birds, and making ...... for trees" should reflect the concept of ecological priority in all aspects of the construction of the Hainan Island Tourist Highway Project.
