As an important result of the special action of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government to implement the introduction of high-level professional leaders, Wang Yanglin, vice president of Peking University, served as the secretary of the Party Committee of Shanxi University.

On the afternoon of July 24, Shanxi University held a cadre conference and announced the decision of the provincial party committee on Wang Yanglin's appointment. Qu Xiaoli, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial CPC Committee, director of the Organization Department, and deputy head of the Leading Group for Education Work of the Provincial CPC Committee, and Wu Wei, vice governor and deputy head of the Leading Group for Education Work of the Provincial CPC Committee, attended and delivered speeches.

On behalf of the provincial party committee, Qu Xiaoli put forward requirements for the leading body and faculty of Shanxi University: First, we must put political construction in the first place and comprehensively implement the party's education policy. Strengthen theoretical armament, solemnize political life within the party, comprehensively strengthen ideological and political work, and deeply promote Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into teaching materials, classrooms, and minds. Second, it is necessary to implement the party's organizational line in the new era and create a contingent of high-quality cadres who are loyal, clean, and responsible. Party and government officials must be sincerely united, the leading bodies should enhance their overall functions, the cadre contingent should be selected and matched, the standard of good cadres in the new period should be adhered to, and the cause should be put first and the meritocracy should be appointed. Third, we must firmly aim at the goal of "double first-class" and forge a new path of high-quality connotative development. Actively and steadily promote comprehensive reform, optimize the development of disciplines, create an environment for the development of excellent talents, deepen cooperation with first-class universities, and accurately serve the transformation and development of Shanxi.
