"Without the Communist Party, there would be no Wang Chen." Talking about his understanding of the party, Wang Chen, a 96-year-old veteran soldier, still has a lot of emotions.

In May 1925, Wang Chen was born in Wudan County, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. In 1947, at the age of 22, he joined the Independent Third Division of the Jichare LiaoZi in his hometown, and because of his bravery in battle, he joined the Communist Party of China in December of that year. Subsequently, Wang Chen joined the 98th Regiment of the 11th Column of Dongye and other units, fighting in North China, and he served as a squad leader in the artillery brigade.

During the attack on Longhua County, Chengde, Hebei, Wang Chen and Dong Cunrui were in the same unit. To attack cloning, there are two key points: moss hill position and Longhua Middle School. At that time, Wang Chen's brigade had few artillery pieces, and could only bombard the Moss Hill position, and the more difficult Longhua Middle School was handed over to Dong Cunrui's company. Dong Cunrui, who rushed into the enemy position, finally chose to use his own body to hold the bomb and blew up the enemy's bunker in the absence of support and the urgency of the battle.

At that time, after a loud noise, Wang Chen heard the sound of the charge horn. Only afterwards did he know that it was Dong Cunrui who sacrificed himself to win the victory for the troops.

Wang Chen also participated in the Liaoshen Campaign, and the most impressive thing for him was the Battle of Tashan. In the northeast battlefield, the Kuomintang army was entrenched in several isolated large cities such as Shenyang, Changchun, and Jinzhou. Jinzhou is a strategic center linking the northeast and north China, in order to cut off the connection between the enemy in the northeast and the enemy in north China, in accordance with the central deployment, the main force of the northeast field army attacked Jinzhou with all its might.

Nationalist reinforcements are preparing to land from Huludao to reinforce Jinzhou, and the Tashan area southwest of Jinzhou is the only way to go, and once Tashan is captured by the enemy, it will cause the PLA to suffer from the enemy's stomach and back, so it is necessary to stop the enemy army with all its strength at Tashan.

Tower Hill is the abbreviation of Tower Hill Fort, it is not actually "as the name suggests", just a small undulating slope, there is a small village of about 100 families, no tower and no mountain, basically no danger. The People's Liberation Army and the Kuomintang army fought a fierce offensive and defensive battle here.

From October 10 to 11, 1948, the Kuomintang army concentrated its artillery to carry out a large-scale bombardment of the Tashan position, seriously damaging the fortifications that the PLA had just repaired. Within a day, the Kuomintang army concentrated its firepower and launched nine rounds of charge, and the officers and men of the People's Liberation Army fought back bravely and fought with the enemy to the death, and the two sides even engaged in close hand-to-hand combat. The scene of comrades-in-arms and the enemy fighting together is still unforgettable by Wang Chen. He himself had experienced nine deaths in this battle, and after fighting with an enemy bayonet, Wang Chen did not notice that the enemy behind him was about to sneak attack, and the second platoon leader next to him shouted, and he immediately reacted and dodged to the side to avoid the fatal blow, but the bayonet still stabbed him in the thigh.

On the 11th, the Kuomintang army made a comeback, strengthened the ground artillery attack and increased the fire support of the navy and air force, and attacked the Tashan position with all its strength. The soldiers of the People's Liberation Army were fearless and brave enough to meet the enemy, and immediately launched a more brutal street battle with the Kuomintang army, thwarting the enemy's attempts.

On October 15, with the liberation of Jinzhou, the Six-Day and Six-Night Battle of Tashan came to an end, and Tashan became an indestructible and indestructible iron-blooded position.

Subsequently, Wang Chen also participated in the Battle of Pingjin, the Battle of Xianggan, and the Battle of Southwest Jiangxi. After the founding of New China, he successively participated in the jiangxi bandit suppression project and the national defense fortification project of the Wanshan Islands. In 1964, Wang Chen, who had served in the army for many years, joined the ranks of cadres in the south, transferred to yuxi transportation group company, formed a fleet of vehicles, carried out transportation business, and contributed to the development and construction of Yunnan.
