Is the "Shunju" brand still there?

Reporter Zhang Li reports

In Shunde, the annual Spring Festival Flower Market, many town streets have appeared one after another. In the flower market, what grabs people's attention are imported flowers from abroad: what "Belgian azalea", "Phalaenopsis", "carnation", "African violet" and so on, will make you dizzy. However, if you want to find the figure of "Shunju" in the sea of flowers, you really have to test your eyesight and patience. Because "Shunju", a chrysanthemum brand that once made Shunde people proud, is gradually moving away from people's vision, and the light of "Shunju" is also losing its former brilliance.

Chrysanthemum cultivation in Shunde has a long history

When it comes to flower cultivation in Shunde, its history is long enough. "Lingnan Flower Town" is people's deepest impression of Shunde Chen Village, flower planting industry has long become one of Shunde's prestigious industries, as early as more than 2,000 years ago, Chen Village has the reputation of "the land of flowers, the capital of flowers". Today, Chen Cunlan, Sanzhou Cinnabar Orange, Leliu Peach Blossom, Licun Chrysanthemum and other flower varieties have become well-known local flower brands. Lunjiao is also famous for decades of chrysanthemum cultivation, and is the famous hometown of chrysanthemums in the Pearl River Delta. Lunjiao chrysanthemum was also the main export base of Shunde chrysanthemum, and it was also one of the four major bases of chrysanthemum export in Guangdong Province. Lunjiao Chrysanthemum has also obtained a national registered trademark after application, becoming a "Shunju" trademark with independent property rights. Shunde chrysanthemum flowers are favored by consumers for their "strong flowers, green leaves, and many colors".

According to the reporter, in 2007, Shunde had a flower planting area of 2,887 hectares, including 1,137 hectares of potted oranges, 887 hectares of green seedlings, 210 hectares of shady flowers, 245 hectares of flower conservation cultivation, a flower output value of 1.04 billion yuan, and a flower export volume of 32.9 million US dollars. In fact, the planting area of Lunjiao in the name of chrysanthemums has only remained at the level of 600~700 acres, which is a world of difference compared with the heyday of thousands of acres or even tens of thousands of acres.

Less variety, high cost, reduced competitiveness

Why is the Shunde chrysanthemum, which once made people proud, developed into a fading development today? Guo Genquan of the Lun Jiao Agricultural Office told the reporter his true feelings. He believes that "Shunju" is not competitive, which is related to the following reasons: First, "Shunju" is not competitive in terms of variety or cost compared with the larger and larger Kunming flower market; Second, after the loss of export opportunities, due to the lack of varieties and the increase in cost, the economic value of chrysanthemum has been far less expensive than planting other flowers; Third, due to the degradation of varieties, chrysanthemums are almost "reduced" to special flowers for worship to the gods, so the largest amount of flowers used at present is concentrated in the three festivals of Chongyang, Qingming and Spring Festival, and few citizens usually use them to decorate their lives; Fourth, because the profit of planting chrysanthemums is thin and the labor cost is too high, it is already very hard for a family to be able to plant two or three acres.

Uncle Liang, a flower farmer who has been growing chrysanthemums in Lunjiao for more than 10 years, told reporters that although there are more than 100 varieties and more than 40 colors of Lunjiao chrysanthemums, they have almost maintained these varieties for many years, and the new varieties cultivated in recent years, such as Eighteen Boys, Black Pearl, although popular, are difficult to plant because of their high status, and the planting area is also decreasing. After registering the "Shunju" brand trademark, Lunjiao chrysanthemum has a high reputation in the Pearl River Delta, and to a certain extent, it has led to the production and sales of chrysanthemum.

Only by increasing investment and expanding the scale can there be a way out

According to the statistics of the Shunde Flower Association, there are tens of thousands of large and small flower enterprises and business households, but there are not many enterprises that have formed large-scale development. Among the more than 60 enterprises of the flower association, only more than a dozen have obtained the qualification of second-level enterprises, and basically no enterprise can have its own brand of flower products. Because of this, Shunde flowers almost did not get a little cheap in the business opportunities of last year's Beijing Olympic Games, and lost an opportunity to seize business opportunities, show image and build brands.

In fact, Shunde's flower planting industry, of course, also includes chrysanthemum cultivation, which has considerable advantages in timing, location, people and people. The weather in Shunde is more suitable for long-term planting of chrysanthemums, and at present, there are large-scale flower trading places such as flower world and flower expo garden, especially Lunjiao has the tradition and experience of planting chrysanthemums, and the development of large-scale planting is not a problem at all.

The relevant person in charge of the District Agricultural Bureau said that after years of development, Shunde's flower industry has faced new opportunities and challenges, from the original single-family production, to market-oriented scale operation, in the future, we should start from doing large-scale and making brands, cultivate leading enterprises through market guidance, cultivate leading products through technological innovation, and establish brands by cultivating independent intellectual property rights, so that Shunde's flower enterprises can make a difference, and then Shunde's "Shunju" will be more brilliant.

The Stone of His Mountain——

The road of "Elemi" is worth learning

Reporter Zhang Li reports

Of course, there are objective and subjective reasons for the decline of "Shunju", but as an agricultural brand that enjoys a national registered trademark and has independent intellectual property rights, if there is no more attention and support, it may continue to be depressed or even disappear. And Zhongshan Xiaolan Town, which is also famous for "chrysanthemum", has its own uniqueness in polishing the brand of "chrysanthemum", and the stone of his mountain may be able to attack jade, which is worth learning.

Zhongshan Xiaolan's annual chrysanthemum exhibition has become a bright business card for Guangdong's characteristic flower market to attract tourists

The chrysanthemums of Xiaolan have a unique charm, and the chrysanthemum exhibition culture runs through the centuries-old history of Xiaolan. Xiaolan was awarded the title of "Hometown of Chinese Chrysanthemum", which is highly valued by the local government because of its long history. In order to spread the good name of "Elemi", the town will continue to carry forward the chrysanthemum exhibition culture, and decided to hold a chrysanthemum exhibition every sixty years, a chrysanthemum exhibition every ten years, a medium-sized chrysanthemum exhibition every three years, and a chrysanthemum appreciation meeting every year, and reward masterpieces that participate in the exhibition, outstanding chrysanthemum art and obvious creativity, so that every time the chrysanthemum exhibition comes, the entire Xiaolan town is immersed in a sea of chrysanthemums, which is very spectacular.

Juzhan not only attracts people, but also attracts the eyes of the world. Xiaolan not only uses flowers as a medium and chrysanthemum to meet friends, but also attracts investment through exhibitions and attracts investment in development with a good cultural atmosphere.

The Olian Show, which ended shortly after December last year, was a worldwide chrysanthemum exhibition with 108 participants from China, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia. The exhibition exhibited a variety of chrysanthemum art shapes, and set up 15 outdoor attractions such as large-scale courtyard style and three-dimensional decorative modeling of flowers; A total of 1,800 varieties and 460,000 pots of chrysanthemums stand tall and smile to welcome visitors, including the chrysanthemum pavilion imitating Nanchang Tengwang Pavilion is 24.3 meters high, and the chrysanthemum building imitating Yueyang Lou in Hunan is 17.5 meters high, setting two Guinness World Records, including the highest chrysanthemum pavilion and the most single grafted variety.

The charm of Juzhan does not stop there. Chrysanthemum is the city flower of Zhongshan and a symbol of Zhongshan people. The spirit of chrysanthemum and Zhongshan people are integrated, containing the spiritual essence of not fearing hardship, hard work and bravery, and tenacious struggle, encouraging Zhongshan people to seize opportunities and forge ahead. The same chrysanthemum can also inspire different spiritual powers.

Perhaps, what "Elemi" can do, "Shunju" can also be done. Perhaps, if "Elemi" cannot be done, "Shunju" can also be achieved. This should become the direction of "Shunju" development and efforts.
