When I was in college, I borrowed this book from the library several times. During that time, I was very confused about the future, and I went to read various works of Western philosophy, especially Nietzsche and Schopenhauer, trying to find a way out for my spirit, and I was looking for it.
"The Book of the Family of Zeng Guofan" has traditional culture, classical Confucianism, and a broad spiritual atmosphere behind the support, sometimes strong and promising, enough to be honest and cowardly, open up the mind of eternity, sometimes retreat without demand, and enough to dissipate the boiling desire for profit. It tells the story eloquently, without pretentiousness, without dropping the book bag, without showing off the literary brilliance, but purely after the experience of the world, and condenses it into several epigrams, so as to transform people into invisible. "The Book of Zeng Guofan's Family" involves all aspects of life, such as how to read, how to compose, how to govern the family, how to be an official, how to do things and even gestures and other details of life, although the times are different, the basic truth is not much different, especially for personal cultivation, such as perseverance, self-improvement, hard work, humility, etc., especially can invigorate the spirit of people, and is very practical, very operational.

During the time when I was studying for a Ph.D., "Zhuangzi" was once placed at my bedside, which was the kind of five yuan a book back then, and I often flipped through it casually. Some people may say that Zhuangzi's thinking is negative, but it is undoubtedly a good medicine for this era of boiling involution. Zhuangzi said, "I was ordered to drink ice at night, and I had my inner heat?" I felt that I had a kind of internal heat back then, which was a kind of internal heat created by fame, fortune and various lusts, and in our time, everyone may have it. Zhuangzi is free and easy, he resists the external norms on the individual, and stubbornly maintains the freedom of his soul; he is not afraid of loneliness, and longs to soar up to 90,000 miles like a Kunpeng, overlooking the muddy water and the snail horn dispute in the world; he has always been content, like a mole drinking a river, only seeking to be full; he is witty and contemplative, and he is born before death, and before he dies, he wanders between talent and untalented.
It was "Zhuangzi" that made me unload the heavy emptiness that I had borne on my back, and I was more able to understand my responsibilities, be willing to face life, better understand the classical Confucianism I studied, understand Confucius's self-denial and retribution, and understand Wang Yangming's call to inner conscience.

Some people say that "Roland Whispers" is a chicken soup book for the soul. Looking at it now, there is indeed no deep philosophy. However, when I was in my third year of high school, I once saw a few words in a notebook, and it really felt like the soul was being electrocuted! No one knows that when a person is at his most vulnerable, he really needs a kind of strength, not knowledge, but wisdom.
Later, I learned that the author Roland had been a radio host for a long time, and finally wrote this book after communicating with the listeners again and again. Its writing is very quiet and accessible, seemingly indifferent and tranquil, but it can give birth to the power of inspiring people to forge ahead. Its words are full of wise speculation that is insightful of world affairs, and there is a kind of calmness of a benevolent person who is in heaven and sees through gains and losses, and it is a kind of philosophy in the Chinese style and classical style. It can break our attachments, and all our mental imbalances are because of indifferent attachments.
"Roland's Whispers" once nourished me deeply, I once reverently copied the text in it, and read it aloud over and over again in the morning reading class, so that I was also infected with the calmness, calmness, accessibility, and retreat in the book, and then began to slowly accumulate strength. Therefore, what I have been used to may be equally useful to those who are equally confused.
