The predecessor of the 250th Air Defense Brigade was the Yugoslav 250th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment. In 1962, the Yugoslav Air Force formed the 250th Air Defense Regiment, which was specifically responsible for the air defense of the capital Belgrade, with 4 missile battalions and 1 technical support battalion, equipped with Soviet-made S-75 air defense missiles. In 1980, the 250th Air Defense Regiment was expanded into a brigade-level combat unit and replaced with S-125 anti-aircraft missiles.
In 1999, with NATO's indiscriminate bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the 250th Air Defense Brigade stationed in Belgrade naturally became a "key target of care", according to incomplete statistics, NATO troops carried out more than 100 targeted attacks on the 250 Air Defense Brigade.
March 27, 1999, was destined to go down in the history of modern warfare for this force. At about 8 p.m. that day, a F-117, the world's first stealth fighter, known as "the most advanced in the world," was preparing to bomb a target in Belgrade as planned, and at the moment it opened its magazine, its fleeting radar reflection section lit up, and the 250th Brigade, which had long been ready, seized the fleeting fighter and launched two S-125 anti-aircraft missiles in succession. Although the first missile did not hit it, the strong air currents and anti-personnel fragmentation that exploded on the second missile caused the aircraft, numbered 82-0206, to lose control and then crash out of control.
The use of the S-125 can create historical achievements in the 250th air defense brigade, worthy of the elite troops of Serbia. Judging from the geopolitical situation, Serbia will still be deeply encircled by the NATO bloc for a fairly long period of time, and the United States and the West will continue to use the Kosovo issue to threaten Serbia's peace and stability. Under such circumstances, it is particularly urgent for the Cypriot side to seek a world-class air defense missile system in order to ensure its own air defense security.
A few years ago, China and Cyprus signed an agreement to purchase a number of Chinese FK-3 missile systems as its main air defense equipment. In order to solve the worries of the Cypriot iron, our army even dispatched a large number of Y-20 direct home delivery. Nowadays, the FK-3 missile, which was born out of China's advanced technology, has comprehensive performance comparable to most of the world's medium and long-range surface-to-air missile systems in service, and even has the ability to perform air strikes in the enemy's strong electromagnetic interference environment.
If NATO thinks that another carpet bombing can bring Serbia to its knees, it may as well let it taste the power of the Chinese FK-3.
