At the Ministry of National Defense press conference on April 25, 2024, spokesman Wu Qian sternly refuted Japan's absurd remarks in its newly released "Diplomatic Blue Book" in sonorous and forceful terms.
In the document, the Japanese government, while hypocritically praising China as an important partner in its "mutually beneficial strategic relationship," brazenly labels China as "the greatest strategic challenge ever."
In a firm tone, Wu Qian made it clear that China strongly opposes this contradictory narrative and reiterated that China's military development is solely for defensive purposes and that its nuclear policy is only for self-defense.
He stressed in no uncertain terms that China resolutely does not participate in any form of arms race, and has never posed any threat to other countries that possess nuclear weapons.
Immediately afterwards, Wu Qian sharply criticized the recent summit of the United States, Japan and the Philippines.
He pointed out that after the meeting, Japan stepped up its groundless accusations against China in the East and South China Seas, absurdly falsely claimed that China's normal behavior constituted so-called "aggression," and even provoked China's peace efforts in the Taiwan Strait.
Wu Qianyi said that such accusations were completely groundless, and he emphasized that the Diaoyu Islands have been China's inalienable inherent territory since the Ming Dynasty.
He expressed indignation at Japan's vexatious provocation on the sovereignty issue, criticized it as a malicious neglect of history, and solemnly warned Japan that it should bear in mind the post-war international order established by the "Cairo Declaration" and the "Potsdam Proclamation" and never allow any incident to be caused on the issue of China's sovereignty.
Wu Qian expressed strong dissatisfaction and condemnation of the Japanese Government's attitude in handling the historical issue of World War II.
He harshly criticized the Japanese government for not only failing to make a formal apology for its historical crimes, but instead trying to beautify itself by falsifying history and pretending to be a victim.
What is even more shameful is that Japan, while not actively participating in global nuclear disarmament, has brazenly sought the nuclear umbrella of the United States.
Wu Qian pointed out sharply that this fully exposes Japan's attempt to integrate with the Indo-Pacific strategy of the United States, and it is also part of its despicable strategy to promote the normalization of the country's military and compete for the status of a great power.

On the same day that Wu Qian made his statement, Japan went so far as to organize a farce called an "investigation team" to wantonly infringe on the waters of the Diaoyu Islands.
It has been learned that in this farce led by the acting secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party, five congressmen set out at 5 p.m. in an attempt to conduct a so-called "inspection" of Diaoyu Dao and further strengthen their claim to sovereignty over Diaoyu Dao.
However, although the lawmakers were unable to make it to the island, the Chinese coast guard acted swiftly and successfully expelled them, reaffirming China's unwavering commitment to the country's territorial integrity.
At the same time, Japan shamelessly dispatched more than 10 patrol boats to escort these parliamentarians, which not only further demonstrated the Japanese government's provocative attitude on the issue of the Diaoyu Islands, but also exposed its extreme irresponsibility on the issue of regional stability.
In response, the Chinese Embassy in Japan immediately made a solemn response, reiterating that the Diaoyu Islands have been China's inherent territory since ancient times, and urging the Japanese government to abide by the four-point principle between China and Japan, resolve disputes through dialogue, and prevent further deterioration of the situation.
This series of provocative actions was actually carried out against the backdrop of the summit of the United States, Japan and the Philippines and the joint military exercises between the United States and the Philippines in the South China Sea.
The escalation of U.S. military action in the South China Sea and the willingness of the Philippines to use force if necessary have undoubtedly heightened tensions in the region.
In this environment, although Japan has maintained a certain degree of restraint on the issue of the Diaoyu Islands on the surface, in fact it is difficult to get rid of its puppet role under the strategic arrangement of the United States and continue to promote Indo-Pacific strategic cooperation with the United States.

Against this background, the actions of the Japanese parliamentarians are nothing more than a botched clown show, which is despicable.
