Recently, the 74 tons of frozen shochu snails worth 189,000 US dollars produced and processed by Shantou Ruiyuan Industrial Co., Ltd. were successfully exported to Taiwan after passing the customs inspection and quarantine, which is the first export of shochu snails, the raw materials for liquor and snacks in Shantou.

The scientific name of shochu snail is longitudinal beach conch, also known as "shochu sea curl" (Latin scientific name: Batillariazonalis), belongs to the sea curl family, China's north and south coastal areas are distributed, mainly living in the sediment or soft mudflat near the estuary where fresh water is injected, generally from November to May of the following year. Shantou is located at the junction of the East China Sea and the South China Sea, with a long coastline, and is the convergence of the Mouth of the Han River, the Lian River and the Rong River, with a superior marine environment, rich products, and abundant production of various shellfish. Shochu snail is a traditional flavor dish in Taiwan, which has been developed in Taiwan for two or three hundred years, common in coastal markets and outlying islands, and is a relatively common appetizer in Taiwan, which is deeply loved by Taiwanese locals and tourists.

Since the beginning of this year, Shantou export aquatic products enterprises have continuously worked hard to develop new varieties and open up new markets, and seized the opportunity of the large gap in Taiwan's shochu snail market, collected local shellfish and processed them into shochu snail raw materials, and transformed the advantages of local resources into product advantages for export and foreign exchange. The export of shochu snail is the first time in Shantou to export this variety, in order to help the product to be exported smoothly, Shantou Customs, which has newly undertaken all the responsibilities of the 6 entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureaus in eastern Guangdong, give full play to its technical advantages, take the initiative to intervene and help, take measures for effective supervision of the first processing of export products before production and processing, and guide export enterprises to strictly follow the HACCP plan from the aspects of raw material acceptance, production and processing health control, etc., and do a good job in epidemic detection before export of products. Ensure product quality and safety, in line with the requirements of the importer. The sampling of goods submitted by enterprises for inspection is tested for microbial and heavy metal items, and safety risks are strictly controlled to effectively ensure product quality safety and smooth export.
