In the early 1950s, on the seven ditches and eight beams of Lijiazhai Village in the depths of Yimeng Mountain, there were scattered thin fields, and the village was famous for "three sticks": one stick for young people to herd sheep, one stick for adults to herd cattle, and one stick for old people to ask for food. After the founding of New China, the people of Lijiazhai were determined to fight against poverty. Since 1955, the People of Lijiazhai have moved mountains to fill in valleys and split mountains to create fields, and in two years have built more than 3,000 mu of high-standard terraces, and the yield of grain per mu has increased to more than 500 jin.

After the rectification of the mountains and rivers, Lijiazhai Village became a banner on the national agricultural front at that time. In early 1960, 37,000 People from LinXian County began to wage war against the Taihang Mountains. After five years of hard fighting, on April 5, 1965, the main trunk canal of the Hongqi Canal was opened to water. Subsequently, it took seven or eight years to complete the Hongqi Canal. The Hongqi Canal has made great contributions to local economic and social development and is still playing a positive role today.

Establish the ambition of yugong to move mountains and resolutely win the battle against poverty. The contemporary "Yugong" Mao Xianglin led the villagers to dig stones between the cliffs to build roads, and he took the lead in tying ropes down the cliffs; it took 7 years to pave the "Heavenly Road". Mao Xianglin said: "Even if our generation is poor for ten years and a bitter decade, we must let the next generation live a good life!" ”
