Seeing the World No. 41

The Republic of Croatia is located in southeastern Europe and its capital, Zagreb, has a long history (from roman times to the present).

St. Mark's Church, built in 1242 on St. Mark's Square, is a popular attraction in Zagreb. St. Mark's Square was built by King Bella IV of Hungary to prevent the Invasion of the Mongols, and Bella IV received a painting in Italy with the name of San Marco, after which Bella IV named St. Mark's Square and The Church of St. Mark. The most special thing about the church is the glazed tiles above. On the left is the coat of arms of Croatia and on the right is the emblem of the city of Zagreb. Glazed tiles were cast after 1880 and were designed by the Austrian designer Hermann.

The natural landscape of Plitvička Lake National Park in Croatia, protected by UNESCO in 1979. The beauty of the lake is mainly caused by plaster and gypsum sediments, and the water flowing through the limestone and Cretaceous rock formations for thousands of years gradually deposits into a travertine barrier, forming a natural, which in turn creates a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls (Figures 4-12).
