I. Kiso River

It is a first-class river of the Kiso River system that originates from Mt. Bhakisa in Nagano Prefecture, flows through Gifu Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, and Mie Prefecture, and finally flows into Ise Bay, and is called the Kiso Mikawa along with the Tsukihikawa and Nagara Rivers, and its source is also known as the Miso River. With a total length of 229 kilometers, the Kiso River is the seventh longest river in Japan, and the area through which it flows not only provides irrigation water for both sides of the river, but also becomes a famous sightseeing spot and the venue for many folk events.

In 1913, the Japanese geographer Shigeyoshi Shigeharu saw that the beautiful landscape of the Kiso River resembled the Rhine River in Germany and named it "Japan's Rhine", and the Rhine River in Japan has been widely circulated ever since. The Kiso River flows through the region, with both rapids and gentle, quiet flows. In Hida Kisawa National Park, visitors can enjoy not only the natural valleys of the Kisone River, which are listed as one of japan's eight scenic spots, such as the Kinsone River, the Couple Rock, and the Lion Rock, but also the seasonal changes such as the mountain cherry blossoms in spring, the refreshing splash of water in summer, and the fiery red maple leaves on both sides of the autumn.

The Kiso River flows through Inuyama City and becomes the venue for the Cormorant Show. The so-called cormorant show is the ancient fishing method in which cormorant trainers board cormorant fishing boats to train cormorants and catch river fish. With a history of more than 1,300 years, this event has become a proud folk event in Inuyama City.

2. Take the saddle

It is a layered volcano in the southern part of the Hida Mountains in Japan, located at the junction of Nagano Andi Prefectures. It consists of 23 peaks, including Mt. Asahi, Mt. Morichi Tengashi, Mt. Fujimi, and Mt. Screen, and the highest peak, Kensei, is 3,025.6 meters above sea level, second only to Mt. Fuji and Mt. Misak in Japan's volcanoes, and is the highest point of Japan's central watershed.

Named for its resemblance to a saddle, Mount Norikura has a volcanic lake in the crater at the summit, most recently erupted near Mt. Ebi more than 2,000 years ago, and signs of volcanic activity can still be observed. It is one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, a treasure trove of alpine plants, and one of the favorite places to live in the Thunderbird, designated as a natural monument in Japan, where visitors can fully experience the magic of nature.

Although Mount Sadakura has a height of more than 3,000 meters above sea level, it is relatively easy to climb as a whole, and since ancient times, it has enjoyed the reputation of "a mountain that can be climbed even with high heels", which is popular with the majority of mountaineering enthusiasts. You can hike up the mountain from Gifu Prefecture Route 5 or Nagano Prefecture Route 84 to the 2,700-meter-high Dieping parking lot, but in recent years, in order to protect nature and prevent congestion during the tourist season, visitors must change to a local eco-friendly bus at the foot of the mountain to the Dieping parking lot.

3. Gujo Hachiman Castle

Listed in Gifu Prefecture, central Japan, it was first built in 1559 by a man named Morikazu Endo. Located on Mount Hachiman at an altitude of 354 meters above sea level, it is a mountain castle that has been home to five 19-generation city lords in history.

In 1871, japan began a campaign to abolish the prefecture, and the yaman castle of The County was destroyed, except for the stone walls, and the current castle was rebuilt with wood in 1933. It is said that it was built with reference to the national treasures of Ogaki Castle and Hikone Castle, and its castle keep is four stories and five steps, and standing on it can give you a panoramic view of the entire town, and has been designated as an important cultural property of Hachiman Town. Gujo Hachiman Castle is the oldest surviving wooden reconstructed castle in Japan, where precious items such as mist armor and harnesses are preserved and displayed, and the remains of the central part of the castle, Honmaru, are also built with bronze statues of the Sengoku Daimyo Yamauchi Kazutoyo and his wife Chiyo, with exquisite carvings and lifelike images.

Gujo Hachiman Castle is an important cultural property of the prefectural market and one of the city's most important sightseeing spots, and is widely planted with various flowers and trees, including many precious varieties, and in spring and summer, it is full of trees and flowers, which are very beautiful.

3. Alpine Array House

In 1692, the Edo shogunate established Hida Kingdom (now northern Gifu Prefecture) as a direct prefecture, and over the next 176 years, 25 generations of prefectural administrators were sent to directly manage administrative, financial, and police affairs in place of the shogunate.

It is said that at the end of the shogunate period, there were more than 60 prefectural daisai and daikans in Japan, but the only buildings at that time that survived were Takayama Jinya, which was designated as a national historical site as the only existing site in the country. Originally built as one of the suburban mansions of the Takayama Castle Lord Kanemori family, Takayama Jinya was used as a government agency dispatched by Edo or a prefectural daimyō to perform the affairs of hida from 1692, when it became a domain under the jurisdiction of the Tokugawa shogunate, until 176 years before the Meiji Restoration.

The roof of the Takayama House was entirely made of wooden planks, and it is said that this was due to the fact that Hida was a snow country and a source of wood, and the tiles at that time were easily damaged by snow, and the wood was easy to get. The mansion is well worth a visit, including the shire house restored from the 1830 drawings, and the rice warehouse that was relocated from Takayama Castle Sannomaru.
