It was so sad that the same primates, one in the cage and one outside the cage, their interactive game turned out to be pinching leaves.

A recent video of a little monkey teaching people to pinch leaves went viral, and this clever brown capuchin monkey is from an animal shelter in South Africa named Chino. One day when he saw the staff approaching, he grabbed his hand, put a leaf in his palm, and taught him to hold it up and crush the leaf! Chino went out of his way to teach him this action repeatedly. I feel extremely sad to see this picture, the little monkey in the picture is very smart, but also feels very lonely, usually there should be no fun, so I will play with the staff, I think this may be the same primate staff as his companion, and playing with it may be the only happiness of the little monkey.

Later, I found some information about this little monkey, and I didn't expect this little monkey to have such an amazing high IQ.

Capuchin monkeys have an excellent IQ

Capuchin monkeys have long attracted the attention of researchers for their "high intelligence", they are one of the first primates to be found to use tools, and they will use stones to smash nuts, dig soil, etc. Some capuchin monkeys have an IQ of 45, which is comparable to that of humans from certain tribes in Africa, except that they cannot speak.

Stone masters of the animal kingdom

The capuchin monkeys' skill in using stone tools is even more counterproductive. Capuchin monkeys living in Brazil like to eat the seed kernels of a palm family, but their small teeth have difficulty biting the hard shell of the seeds. In order to taste the beloved delicacy, the clever little monkeys first nibbled off the fibrous skin of the seed and then exposed the seed to the sun. When the shells of the seeds are dry and brittle, the capuchin monkeys will place them on boulders or trunks and lift heavy gravel to knock the seeds open and feast. This series of complex operations is not innate instinct, and the capuchin monkey Xiaomeng xin needs to study hard for 7 or 8 years to become a master of using stone tools.

Not long ago, Brazilian researchers excavated a 3,000-year-old "stone tool" remains. These stone tools did not belong to a primitive tribe, but were forgotten by some 450 generations of capuchin monkeys who used them to smash the hard shells of fruits and seeds. Archaeologists were surprised to find that capuchin monkeys used different types of stones at several different historical periods to adapt to changes in food species caused by vegetation evolution. By about 100 years ago, they may have also learned to modify stone tools to better deal with the poisonous shell of cashew nuts. In a sense, capuchin monkeys have been in the Stone Age for thousands of years!

For such highly intelligent monkeys, it may not be the right choice to keep them in a cage, imagining that if they have their own ideas, they may think that they are imprisoned here by humans, they may not be just like some animals just to get food, they may also need their own lives.

I remember when I was a child, I didn't understand these things, every time my family took them to the zoo, I was very happy, I could see so many animals that I couldn't usually see, sometimes the animals were lying on their stomachs in the cages and resting, and they would pat the cages with their hands in the hope that they could move. When I grow up, I experience more things, I understand more things, I have never been to the zoo again, and I feel that it is very pitiful to see animals in cages, especially animals with high IQs, I don't know what they think in the cage, whether they are longing for freedom.
