La Gomera is 119 km southeast of Ceuta, 400 m long from northwest to southeast, up to 100 m wide, and has a land area of about 0.019 km². La Gomera is a volcanic island that is roughly circular in shape and has a diameter of about 22 km. It is shaped a bit like an orange cut horizontally in half and then separated from the sac, with a deep canyon between the sacs. At the top of the hillside is covered with leafy forests (temperate rainforests) with up to 1270 mm of precipitation per year. These forested summits are surrounded by clouds almost all year round, forming a dense and diverse vegetation.
