Xu Hongfei: Chinese acrobatics have been watched by everyone since childhood, including me. Chinese acrobats have won many awards, and they are also relatively influential in the world, and they have a history and heritage. When I was invited to make this trophy, I thought it was very interesting, and I immediately wanted to "make a trophy with a more impactful shape." It's challenging, but it's also fascinating because there are difficult moves, movements, and beauty that surprise people. I think that since our show is called "Four Seats of Skill", it must give people a sense of surprise, expectation and thrill, and the trophy must also give people a bright feeling.

Yangcheng Evening News: How was the trophy created? How long has it been going on?
Xu Hongfei: It was done in a short period of time, about 10 days. First of all, I am interested in making trophies, and secondly, many of my sculptures have acrobatic shapes, which are more ethereal, more volleying, and have a fulcrum to support. And I chose my most well-known "fat girl" image to do, because the skinny man performing acrobatics is already familiar to everyone, can not arouse everyone's curiosity, no impact. The fat "fat woman" made such a full and impactful shape, more difficult, more shocking, and may also give others more confidence, "she can do this I can too." Some things have to upset the balance, and doing art is like this, thinking backwards, not following normal ideas. Art must have originality, uniqueness, and the personality of the artist, so that people can know who made it at a glance.

Yangcheng Evening News: Why has you always been fond of the artistic image of "fat girl"?
Xu Hongfei: It has been 20 years since this question was answered, and people still keep asking this question, which proves that everyone is always troubled by the question of "fat and thin". This is actually not a problem, and I have done a good job of thin image. But there are more skinny sculptures in the world, all are doing very well, everyone sees more, and they forget whose works it is. But "Fat Girl" is unique, she represents a humorous, happy spirit. Happiness has a universal universality, the different races on the five continents of the world do not need to translate, as long as you see the statue of "fat woman", you can feel happy.

Yangcheng Evening News: Did making a trophy inspire your desire to create an acrobatic art series?
Xu Hongfei: Many of my works are made in series, including sports series, Winter Olympic series, and anti-epidemic series. A lot of artists do one or two things and don't do it, take one or two pictures and it's over, throw it all over there, but I do it all the time. Art needs to be persistent, and in the past two years, I have done the works of vaccinations, children doing nucleic acid, and medical workers fighting the epidemic. I also used the image of the "fat girl" in these works, she held it with her hand, and then shouted, and that action was very impactful, like a lion shouting, giving people a very vivid feeling, which is my work.

Yangcheng Evening News: Your "Fat Girl" sculpture has been very successful in touring the world. How do traditional Chinese acrobatics tell Chinese stories well? How to make Chinese acrobatics spread overseas? Do you have any experiences to share?
Xu Hongfei: If traditional acrobatics are to be recognized by everyone, there must be some evolution and breakthroughs. In addition, there must be some acrobatic stars and celebrities that can be remembered. We should have more individual value output, this output is more lively and vivid, and everyone will remember it. For example, the group song and dance performance is easy to be forgotten by everyone after it ends, but the outstanding solo dance performance is easy to remember. There must be stars in a group of practitioners. Why do I keep showing up in the media, showing up at the exhibition site, and constantly communicating with everyone? I just want to tell you that this is my exhibition, this is Xu Hongfei's work, he is from Guangdong, he is from China.
