Market changes in the post-pandemic era

According to the data released at the press conference, Dell Technologies group's full-year fiscal 2022 revenue exceeded $100 billion, an increase of 17% year-on-year. In 2021, the annual shipment volume ranked third among the global PC brands, an increase of 17.9% year-on-year, of which the global commercial PC sales exceeded 53 million units, and the daily order volume reached 179,000, and the performance hit a record high. It is not difficult to see that the changes in the office environment brought about by the epidemic have stimulated customers to generate new demand in the digital economy and digital transformation, and the entire PC market has not begun to decline as predicted by the outside world, and it is still full of momentum.

On the one hand, this is because the haze of the epidemic has not dissipated, on the other hand, because the arrival of hybrid office has put forward new demands on IT equipment, which has formed a strong pull on the market. Full upgrade of software and hardware

Specific to the product, the first is that the Latitude series has made some adjustments in the product line. According to Guo Hongming, the new products are simplified to screen options under different size models, which increases the flexibility of customers' choices and reduces complexity from the perspective of product selection. In addition, in order to better match different needs, Dell has also incorporated artificial intelligence technology in this process.

Precision Workstation, as a product line for engineers, designers and other professionals, has launched an ultra-small chassis workstation such as precision 3260, with a chassis capacity of only about 2.3L, but its performance is still strong, with rich interfaces, and even external 8K resolution displays. The processor is upgraded to the latest Intel 12th Generation Core, up to the highest optional i9 standard voltage processor with ECC memory, graphics card is NVIDIA professional graphics, and has a wide range of ISV certification, suitable for industrial/architectural design, science, finance and other different professional fields.

In addition to professional workstations, OptiPlex desktops for the office needs of business customers have also undergone new changes. Chen Zhiyi pointed out that the OptiPlex series attaches great importance to the needs of commercial users for appearance, in addition to meeting customer needs in performance and reliability, there is also a corresponding pursuit in appearance design. For example, the shape and color design of the front and rear panels of the chassis, the ventilation and heat dissipation design, as well as the overall process and internal wiring, are very focused on bringing customers the enjoyment of appearance.

A major upgrade to the updated Dell Optimizer 3.0 is the fully modular design, allowing users to install specific functional modules according to their own needs. In addition, the new version also adds the function of optimizing the dual-channel network and the intelligent anti-peeping screen. The dual-channel feature allows users to speed up the network over both wireless and wired network connections, while the smart anti-peep screen automatically dims the screen when someone behind it or the user's own eyes are off the screen to prevent privacy leakage. Finally, Dell Optimizer software has a targeted optimization strategy for the different positioning of the Latitude, Precision, optiPlex series products.

Environmental and sustainable development

Carbon emissions have been a hot topic in recent times, and the same is true for the IT industry, after some technology companies have made corresponding moves, how is Dell doing in this regard?

According to Shen Yue, Dell has always been at the forefront of the industry in terms of environmental protection and sustainable development, and they have an ambitious goal for this - by 2030, more than half of Dell's products will be made of recyclable, renewable materials, and by 2050 Dell has promised to help achieve carbon neutrality.

Currently, many of Dell's products already use renewable materials, and the Latitude 5000 Series Business Notebook and Precision 3000 Series Mobile Workstation are the industry's first PC series to use bio-based plastics from trees, with 21% bio-based plastics in their housings. On outer packaging, the proportion of recycled or renewable materials used in Dell's packaging will increase to 87% in 2021. Latitude 2-in-1 uses 100% recycled (50% marine) HDPE cushions. In this regard, Dell aims to make all products 100% recyclable in the future.

In addition to the one-time consumption generated by product and packaging manufacturing, the carbon footprint of the entire life cycle of the product is also worth paying attention to, and Dell has been leading the industry in this regard. According to Wen Xiaohui, the carbon emissions of each model of Dell commercial clients are published on the official website, for example, the carbon emissions of an OptiPlex desktop are about 500 kilograms. Compared with companies that only focus on their own carbon emissions, Dell's ability to provide carbon emissions specific to each model is indeed a more advanced concept.
