According to the data research released by the research institute Canalys, the shipments of China's (mainland) desktop and notebook market will reach 41.24 million units in 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 17% compared with 49.5 million units in 2022. Among the top five manufacturers in terms of shipments, only Huawei stands out, bucking the trend and achieving positive growth in shipments.

Specifically, the number one PC manufacturer in China in 2023 is still Lenovo, with a shipment of 15.536 million units, which won 38% of the market share, but compared with the shipment of 19.253 million units in 2022, it fell by 19%, it can be said that Lenovo's shipments are basically floating with the changes in the domestic market.

In second place is HP, with about 4.31 million units shipped, accounting for 10% of the market share, compared to 2022 shipments, which is basically the same, with only a 2% decline.

Huawei, as a dark horse in the PC industry, has moved forward in the face of the decline in the market, and its shipments of nearly 4 million units have almost equaled HP, which ranks second, and its shipments have also increased by 11% compared to 2022.

In fact, Huawei has always had constraints in the PC industry, such as not being able to use AMD processors, and basically did not want to be the first batch of manufacturers equipped with Intel's latest processors, but even so, Huawei still won more markets.

In fourth and fifth place are Dell and Asus, Dell's shipments fell by 44%, almost halved, probably due to the impact of the "de-China" plan, while Asus shipped less than 3 million units, and shipments also fell by 24%.

It is worth mentioning that in 2023, if Chinese mainland desktops and notebooks are divided according to the consumer market, commercial market and education market, the consumer market shipments will reach 23.39 million units, the commercial market will be 17.21 million units, and the education market will only be 640,000 units.

Canalys forecasts that China's PC market will grow by 3% in 2024 and further expand to 10% in 2025, mainly due to the replacement demand in the commercial market and the opportunities presented by AI PCs.
