Compared with the squad for last year's Women's World Cup, the new coach Milicic has not changed much for the first time. The return of Tang Jiali and Peng Shimeng is relatively noteworthy. The former scored for the Australian women's football team in the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers in January 2020, when Milicic was the head coach of the Australian team. The latter was the main goalkeeper of the Chinese women's football team at the 2019 Women's World Cup and the Tokyo Olympics.

The Football Association also said in the announcement that the Chinese women's football team will train at the Xianghe National Football Training Base from May 19 to May 26, 2024, and go to Australia to participate in the invitational tournament from May 27 to June 5.
