Donnarumma, or Navas? Choosing 1 out of 2 this summer is a problem for Paris

author:HomeField

In the 34th round of Ligue 1 today, Paris Saint-Germain won the Ligue 1 title this season with Messi's world wave and a 1-1 draw with Lens at home, four rounds in advance. It is worth mentioning that the starting goalkeeper of this campaign is Navas.

After the game, Donnarumma posted a photo with Navas on social media, and it was clear that both were very happy.

But behind the happiness, there is still a hint of crisis. Both want the team to change next season, both want to be able to play in all competitions, and both want to get more playing opportunities. So, the time has come to test the Management of Paris, so who should be left behind? This is a conundrum.

So far this season, Paris' choice of goalkeeper has always been Navas and Donnarumma taking turns. Navas, 35, made 24 appearances for Paris, keeping nine clean sheets, while Donnarumma, 23, made 22 appearances for Paris, keeping eight clean sheets. The results of the two sides seem to be similar, while Donnarumma has a huge age advantage.

In October 2015, the 16-year-old Donalumma made his debut for AC Milan in Serie A, becoming the youngest starting goalkeeper in Serie A history. In 2016, the 17-year-old Donnarumma made his debut for the Italian national team. In July 2021, Donnarumma helped the Italian national team win the European Championship and was named the best player of the tournament.

It is no exaggeration to say that Donnarumma is a phenomenal player with a huge arm span, strong physical fitness and excellent technical ability, both to block the line and react to it. Although the Battle of the Bernabeu in the Champions League and the 1-0 defeat to North Macedonia in the World Cup play-off led to Italy's unfortunate exit, which made it suffer serious doubts, the 23-year-old Donarumma still has a wider room for improvement.

In the 2013–14 season, Navas played for Levante in La Liga and was named the La Liga goalkeeper of the season. In 2014, Navas moved to Real Madrid, helping the team win three Champions League titles, four Club World Cups and one La Liga title.

Behind Navas's success, it is inseparable from his hard work and efforts. Navas's humble character, no matter which team he plays in, makes him one of the most popular players in the dressing room.

Recently, according to Romano, Donnarumma will not leave Paris this summer, basically confirmed to stay, and Navas is likely to need to find a new home. The Milan Sports newspaper said that even if Donnarumma is not happy in Paris, AC Milan fans do not want to see Donnarumma, and fans still cannot forgive Donnarumma's betrayal, and the club's top management is satisfied with the current team goalkeeper Menion, and there is no intention of replacing the goalkeeper.

In a recent interview, Navas made it clear that next season the team must first identify a main goalkeeper, I don't know what will happen in the future, but in any case, the situation must change.

But so far, the Paris hierarchy has still not made a statement on the use of goalkeepers next season. Sporting director Leonardo even vowed that the rivalry between Navas and Donnarumma was benign and that it would not be a problem at all.

No one doubts the talent and unlimited potential that Donnarumma has, but if Donnarumma has always been in this state, then it will only make the fans, let the team lose patience more and more. Navas' current contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in 2024, while Donalumma's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in 2026. With one leaving and one staying this summer, it's time for the Paris hierarchy to make a choice.

I don't know who the fans support?
