Bydir's success can also see the broad prospects of the PHEV market, Chery, Great Wall, Geely have launched their own hybrid systems, and Changan Automobile, which has always paid attention to technology accumulation, of course, has its own hybrid system - Blue Whale iDD hybrid system.
This hybrid system is composed of Blue Whale NE engine, hybrid variable special transmission, PHEV battery and intelligent control system, other we will not talk about, mainly to see the difference from other brands of hybrid transmission.
Changan Blue Whale iDD hybrid system is simply a P2 hybrid architecture that places the motor between the engine and the gearbox, and most European brands currently use this structure.
The advantages of the P2 architecture are: the structure is relatively simple, no need to modify the traditional gearbox; the cost is relatively low; the overall weight of the system is light, and the vehicle load is small.
The difficulty of the P2 architecture lies in how to complete the layout and installation of the P2 electric drive transmission without sacrificing system power and efficiency, so that users can obtain a stable driving experience and fuel consumption performance in various scenarios.
So what is the difference between Changan's P2 architecture?
First of all, Changan's P2 motor and engine adopt a coaxial arrangement, through a set of clutches to determine whether the engine is involved in the power system; hybrid transmission is composed of P2 motors and 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmissions; one uses 3 sets of clutches, a set of clutches that control whether the engine is involved, and two sets of dual-clutch transmissions.
Like other hybrid systems, it also has several main working modes such as pure electric driving, hybrid driving, engine direct drive driving, kinetic energy recovery, etc., which can be divided into:
1, pure electric driving, control the engine intervention of the clutch disconnection, provided by the battery to drive the P2 motor through the transmission and then drive the vehicle, with the driving texture of pure electric vehicles, suitable for urban low-speed congestion road conditions;
2. The engine is driven directly, the clutch at the rear end of the engine is engaged, and the engine power directly reaches the transmission to select the appropriate gear and then drive the vehicle, which is suitable for the situation where the medium and high-speed engine is in the most efficient range;
3, hybrid driving, the engine to maintain the most efficient operation, while the battery for the P2 motor to provide power and then with the engine to output power, through the dual clutch transmission and then drive the vehicle;
4, battery charging mode, because the P2 motor and the engine use coaxial arrangement, so when the engine directly drives the vehicle, if the battery power is insufficient, the motor will obtain a part of the power to generate electricity to charge the battery; or keep the engine running in the most efficient range when idling and then drive the P2 motor to generate electricity to charge the battery;
5, kinetic energy recovery mode, and other hybrid architecture are the same, braking, coasting and other situations P2 motor recovery kinetic energy, and P2 architecture deficiencies are the need to go through the gearbox. Slightly less efficient recycling.
According to changan automobile's introduction, the hybrid special transmission has several core technologies: high-pressure hydraulic system, which can shorten the shift time and reduce the risk of oil leakage; intelligent electronic double pump, which saves 70% of energy consumption compared with mechanical pump; S-winding winding technology, which obtains higher power and improves power density under limited volume limitations. At the same time, through the A-ECMS global dynamic energy management algorithm, the various working modes are intelligently switched to ensure efficiency and fuel consumption.
Compared with the P2 architecture of European and American car companies, Changan's hybrid architecture can still be clearly seen to have carried out a lot of optimizations and added many new technologies, and the specific performance depends on the evaluation of real car owners:
Take Changan UNI-K iDD as an example. Fuel consumption, 100 km fuel consumption in about 5L, due to driving habits, environmental and other factors affect the comprehensive view of fuel consumption can also be controlled at 6--7L, compared to the current mainstream plug-in hybrid model advantages although not obvious, but the fuel saving performance is still good; driving experience, EV mode and pure tram is not much different, HEV mode because the dual clutch transmission will still have a certain sense of frustration, feel not strong.

Although Changan Blue Whale iDD hybrid is based on the P2 architecture, the overall balance of efficiency and fuel saving is still relatively good through the use of 3 clutches and new technologies, but the single motor architecture of P2 is still different from the current dual motor DHT architecture, and there is still a lot of room for improvement in smoothness and fuel saving effect.
