In the era of digital reading, the one-stop discovery platform of "Siyuan Exploration" of Jiaotong University Library and various databases have become a good helper for reading and scientific research of Jiaotong University. Mao Zedong, Lu Xun and Keigo Higashino became the authors of high-frequency search for "Siyuan Exploration", and "Three-Body Problem", "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" and "A Brief History of Mankind" were listed in high-frequency search books. In 2021, the ratio of paper books to e-books is 3:17.
At Shanghai Jiaotong University, there is a scholarship with the "Hero of Reading Theory" - the Xin Pu Geng Reading Scholarship. Their reading habits are usually established in elementary school or even earlier, often accompanied by the positive guidance of at least one parent at home. In the borrowing ranking, Deng, an undergraduate student of the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering, borrowed 279 books throughout the year, becoming the reader with the largest number of borrowed books. Judging from the borrowing situation of the whole school, the literature category has become the most numerous category in the borrowing type. The historical novel "Those Things of the Ming Dynasty" continues to be on the popular borrowing list, which is the common preference of students of all grades. Students in all four grades of undergraduate love to read Jin Yong's novels, but the list of books varies.

Mr. Li Zhengdao is one of the physics masters who pioneered the history of Chinese nobel prizes. In 2011, Mr. Lee expressed his willingness to donate his life's collection to Shanghai Jiaotong University, including 1,899 precious books. The collections are now housed in the special collections of the Li Zhengdao Library at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and in the Li Zhengdao's study room on the third floor of the library.
The publication time of the collection spans the 1930s to the 21st century, and the content focuses on physics, history, geography, literature, art and other disciplines, with a large span of years and a wide range of contents. These books not only show Li Zhengdao's reading hobbies and habits, but also reflect his rich spiritual world and pure feelings.

At the same time, the school hosted a series of activities such as "World Book Day", including a number of activities organized by the library, such as the online reading of readers, the online reading club of the Tao of Books, the "War Epidemic" Great Ideological and Political Science Class jointly organized by the Publicity Department and the Horse Academy: Reading the Story of the War Epidemic, The Confidence of Winning the Tree, and the "Chinese Classic Recitation" activity organized by the College of Humanities. On April 23, World Book Day, the publicity department and the library jointly planned and produced the "Reading Epidemic Diary" video product for the first time, allowing rich reading resources to guard the spiritual home of teachers and students during the special period of the epidemic. As one of the organizers, the school also hosted a series of activities in Shanghai "New Reading, Toward the Future - Reading Red Classics and Passing on the Faith".
