For C1 drivers, "driver's license demotion" does not have a big impact on them, but for AB drivers, especially those who drive large trucks for a living, the harm caused by driver's license downgrade is comparable to unemployment. Because the driver's license is downgraded, it means that the driver can no longer drive the vehicle for a long time. After the implementation of the new regulations in April, the rule that "the driver's license is deducted 12 points and demoted" was removed, which is really good news. But it is worth noting that this does not mean that the "downgrade" system is abolished, and the downgrade of AB and motorcycle driver's licenses still exists. 01What is downgrade? At present, there are 17 kinds of driver's licenses, sorted from A, B, C, D, E, etc. In general, the higher the level of the driver's license can drive the larger the range of quasi-driving types, such as A1's quasi-driving type is more than C1 driving license. The downgrading of the driver's license is to "dethronate" the higher-level driver's license to the lower-level driver's license type, so that the range of quasi-driving types that can be driven is reduced.

Downgraded classification downgrades can be divided into two categories: forced downgrade, voluntary downgrade. Let's start with "voluntary demotion". Because the AB class driver's license is deducted points in the cycle to participate in the examination and study, many people have the idea of "demotion", at this time the driver can go to the vehicle management office to apply for demotion, which is voluntary demotion. Forced demotion has the meaning of "mandatory", whether the driver wants to or not, it must be demoted. At present, there are two main reasons for "forced relegation": one is that the body is older, and the other is that the body does not meet the driving conditions.
Getting older
According to Article 65 of the new version of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses", those who are over 60 years old and hold a driving license for large passenger cars, heavy traction trailers, city buses, medium-sized passenger cars, and large trucks shall go to the vehicle driving license issued or the vehicle management office other than the place where the motor vehicle driver's license is issued or the place where the vehicle is issued to obtain a motor vehicle driving license with a quasi-driving type of small cars or small automatic transmission vehicles, of which those who hold a heavy traction trailer driving license can also retain the light traction trailer driving license. In other words, after the age of 60, people who hold A1, A2, A3, B1, B2 driver's licenses will be forcibly demoted to C1 or C2 driver's licenses. But the A2 driver's license can retain the C6 driver's license.
Those who are 70 years of age or older and hold a driving license for an ordinary three-wheeled motorcycle or an ordinary two-wheeled motorcycle shall go to the place where the motor vehicle driver's license was issued or at a vehicle management office other than the place of issuance to obtain a motor vehicle driving license with a moped whose quasi-driving type is a moped; if they hold a driving license that includes a light tractor trailer, they shall go to the place where the motor vehicle driver's license was issued or at a vehicle management office other than the place where the vehicle was issued to obtain a motor vehicle driving license with a quasi-driving type of small car or a small automatic blocking car.
In other words, after the age of 70, those who hold D and E driver's licenses are forcibly demoted to F driver's license; C6 driver's license is compulsorily demoted to C1 or C2 driver's license.
The body does not qualify for driving
In addition, according to the regulations: if the physical conditions of the driver of a motor vehicle change and he does not meet the conditions for the permitted driving type of the motor vehicle driver's license he holds, but meets the conditions for other permitted driving types, he shall apply to the vehicle management office at the place where the motor vehicle driver's license was issued or the vehicle management office outside the place of issuance within 30 days to apply for a reduction of the permitted driving type. That is to say, regardless of the age of the driver, if the physical certificate submitted at the time of the renewal of the driver's license is not qualified, then it will also face mandatory demotion.
In general, the situation of de-escalation after the implementation of the new regulations is mainly due to the driver's own physical condition and age, and is not linked to the driving behavior.
03What kind of downgrade does the new regulations cancel? According to the previous regulations, in addition to age and body, there is a third situation of demotion, which we can call "driver's driving behavior", which is equivalent to a punishment for drivers. According to the old regulations, drivers will be demoted in the following three situations: (1) if a traffic accident causes a death, bear equal or more responsibility, and do not constitute a crime; (2) have a record of 12 points in a scoring cycle; (3) do not participate in the trial for three consecutive scoring cycles. After the implementation of the new regulations in April, the downgrades in all three cases were cancelled. Summary: In general, the new regulations do not completely abolish the "demotion" system, but delete some of them, retaining the downgrade due to age and physical objectivity. But that's a great move, at least for AB drivers.
