Xu Jiang made a speech on the theme of "seal carving with mountains and rivers", he pointed out that the art of seal engraving is not only engraving, but also presents unique imagery with arrangement, simple and profound, falling from the atmosphere straight down the mountains and rivers. The core of seal engraving lies in epigraphy and paleography, which also involves the classics of Confucian simplicity, highlighting the high-end status of Chinese scholarship, so seal engraving itself also has the strength of mountains and rivers. The forum elevated seal engraving to printing, sublimated from art to learning, improved scale, and broadened horizons, highlighting the trend of seal engraving art and Chinese character research in recent years. He took Mr. Lu Weizhao, Mr. Zhu Lesan and other masters as examples, and inspired scholars not only to do a good job in sorting out traditional Chinese studies, to carry out knowledge reserves such as epigraphy and paleography, but also to strengthen the study of methodology, to do a good job in the basic problems of seal engraving techniques, and to enrich the core and scholarship of seal engraving and printing.
Shen Hao, vice president of the China Academy of Art, delivered a speech
Shen Hao pointed out that the theme of this forum is "From Seal Engraving to Printing", which is to connect the responsibility of history with the current situation. The study of printing involves various aspects of writing, documents, history, archaeology, institutions, officials and art history, and has rich interdisciplinary academic connotations. Under the background that calligraphy is expected to be upgraded to a first-level discipline, how to expand the level of disciplines, excavate the depth of disciplines, and enrich the connotation of disciplines is the primary task of teaching and research at present. He hopes to discover and solve problems through this exhibition and forum exchange, push the research of printing science to a more systematic and disciplinary height, and realize the perfect combination of visual arts and cultural scholarship.
