These days, people passing by Beijing's East Second Ring Road will find a tall and majestic art building rising from the ground. On the afternoon of April 20, the Central Opera House held a press conference to announce that the theater, which has been completed after seven years of construction, will soon be put into use, and the first "Performance Month" will be launched from May 1.
Liu Yunzhi, president of the Central Opera House, introduced that 3 operas and 10 performances will be launched during the performance month, and the Chinese and foreign operas "Turandot" and "Road" will be double-opened; "La Traviata" will be the first Western opera introduced by the opera house, and will be the closing performance.
The opening performance months include "Chinese Opera Aria Night - Starting from Yan'an", "From Rossini to Puccini Aria and Re-singing Concert", "Central Opera House 'Voice of Love' Anti-epidemic Theme Concert", "Loving the Party for the People - Welcoming the 20th National Congress of the Party and Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's Speech at the Yan'an Literary and Art Forum", "Central Opera House Classic Re-singing And Opera Concert" and "Central Opera Opera Opera Treasure Concert", and other 6 sets of concerts with opera house characteristics. In addition, the Performance Month also invited the National Ballet of China and the China Symphony Orchestra to perform the world's classic ballet "Swan Lake" and the "Ode to Joy" symphonic choral concert respectively.
The Central Opera House Theater is about 138 meters long from east to west, about 56 meters wide from north to south, with a total building height of 47.2 meters and a total construction area of 41,000 square meters. The theater design takes "phoenix" as the core concept to interpret the theme of architectural connotation, and the "phoenix" element runs through the aesthetic form of the entire building, environment and indoor space.
The tone of the theater is dominated by the golden yellow that matches the phoenix, and the color combination of golden yellow and red intertwined inside blends Chinese cultural elements with the classical European architectural style. With a total height of 6.5 meters and a diameter of 4.5 meters, the magnificent and exquisite dome chandelier, coupled with the splendid four-wall interior, makes it very ritualistic to watch the opera.
The Central Opera Theater has applied a large number of new means to create a number of industry firsts. The orchestra pool of about 150 square meters can easily realize 120 people to play, can accommodate the symphony orchestra of the Wagner Opera Grand Orchestra, is a professional opera theater with the largest orchestra in the country, and the box design of the fourth to sixth floors has realized the standard docking with the international top opera house, becoming the only "building + box" opera house in China.
The Central Opera House is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and was founded in 1952. In the course of 70 years of development, the theater has won more than 100 national awards such as the national "Five One Project Award", the Wenhua Award, the Wenhua New Repertory Award, the Wenhua Performance Award, etc., created more than 100 world classic operas such as "Turandot" and "La Traviata", and created dozens of excellent original operas such as "Manas", "Xiao Hong" and "Road".
