Nowhere to put it - Li Jinghu solo exhibition

When: April 7 - July 15

Venue: Foshan Xun Art Museum

Most of the works in this exhibition are new works by Li Jinghu, which explore the psychological state of "nowhere to place" in the context of the times with his usual poetic methods, and most of the new works are based on local materials in Shunde, constructing a specific creative context in a site-specific way of creation. Li Jinghu's view of "factory" as a creative theme or an object of observation is not a choice, but an inevitability, because his personal life history, even the life history of every individual in the era, cannot be separated from this background. Like Sisyphus, who had already accepted the fate of pushing stones, the factory in his work was no longer an object to be observed, but more like a fate that was doomed to be inescapable. In this exhibition, the factory also exists in such a role, that is, it is no longer an object of observation, but the atmosphere of the times that evokes a certain emotion. During the creation of this exhibition, he also visited several factories in Shunde, which made him more aware of the factory.

Peng Libiao: Confrontation and Dissolution: Spatial Symbolism of a Person

When: April 11 - May 15

Venue: Shenzhen Jupiter Art Museum

For the artist Peng Libiao, the hometown of Jiangxi's ancient town and the young city of Shenzhen constitute the two poles of his living space, constantly confronting and dissolving between the past and the future, between tradition and modernity. Peng Libiao chose wood as the material for sculpture creation, on the one hand, borrowing wood carving components from ancient Chinese architecture, using "locality" to imply the entire missing architectural space, referring to the tradition that broke under radical modernization. On the other hand, he cleverly incorporated pop art, which represented Western materialism and liberalism. New and old, medium and foreign, traditional folklore and contemporary pop come together, clashing and dissolving under the same shape, creating a unique spatial symbolism of the artist under the dynamic tension of the dual meaning system.
