Writer Wang Xufeng: What kind of life comes, it will go to what kind of life

Tea, Spring, Gangnam.

It's a good time to drink spring tea! A tea tree, after a winter, will accumulate all the nutrients on that piece of young shoots. A cup of Longjing, full of jiangnan early spring taste!

The newly published novel "Wangjiangnan" is just like this cup of longjing, in the buds of leaves, spring is spread out through the paper... The difference is that this cup of tea, instead of creating a winter, has gone through 26 spring and autumn seasons. Its author is Wang Xufeng, vice chairman of the Zhejiang Writers Association, winner of the Mao Dun Literature Award, professor of Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, and leader of the tea culture discipline.

How many 26 years can you have in life? How many people can focus on one thing? What kind of Chinese story does "Wangjiangnan" tell? What does it have to do with the Tea Man Trilogy? Su Yang, host of the "Chao Hua Xi Shi" program of the Voice of China of the Central Radio and Television Corporation, interviewed Wang Xufeng, member of the party leading group and secretary of the Secretariat of the China Writers Association, editor-in-chief of the People's Literature magazine, and literary critic Shi Zhanjun.

Created to make up for gaps and regrets

When asked why he created the Tea Man series of novels, Wang Xufeng said: "What kind of life comes to me, I will go to what kind of life. ”

In Wang Xufeng's eyes, tea and Jiangnan are not only about skills and beauty, but also about Chinese history and the feelings of home and country that are integrated into people's hearts - one of the symbols that can best represent Chinese culture.

The earliest work launched by the author Wang Xufeng was the "Tea Man Trilogy", and "WangjiangNan" began to be created after the second part of the "Tea Man Trilogy" was written, but why did it take 26 years to complete? Wang Xufeng said, "I was not able to write it because I lacked understanding of this history, and I felt that I was not culturally ready." An old professor at Zhejiang University has been paying attention to her works, and at this time repeatedly suggested to Wang Xufeng that he hoped to have this history and not jump to 1965 at once. This matter was more difficult for Wang Xufeng at that time, so she wrote a preface to the content she collected, but this preface was not placed in the third part of the Tea Man Trilogy, so this part jumped directly from the War of Resistance Against Japan to 1965, and the middle 20 years became a gap.

"I always felt awkward after publication, and making up for this gap is something I've always wanted to do," Wang said. But it wasn't until 2013 that Wang Xufeng really began to re-engage in creation. She said bluntly that this work has been created for nearly eight years before and after, and even twice it cannot be written and overturned. But finally, at the end of 2020, the first draft was completed, "so that it finally made up for the regret of this paragraph, so in the strict sense, this history is not a supplement or a follow-up to the work, but embedded in it."

And will try new tea with new fire, poetry wine to take advantage of the years

"Wangjiangnan" is taken from the phrase "Hugh thinks of the homeland of the deceased, and will try new tea with new fire, and poetry and wine will take advantage of the old age" in Su Shi's "Wangjiangnan Chaorantaizuo". At that time, Su Shi was demoted from Hangzhou to Shandong, and his father and wife died. After the Cold Food Festival, Su Shi ascended to the Transcendental Platform, and this scene inspired his thoughts about his homeland and the deceased. Wang Xufeng believes that for Su Shi, the old country and the old people cannot be forgotten, but the Cold Food Festival has passed, the new fire has been re-ignited, as if the new year has arrived, we must actively live, to experience the current life, this is the value brought to us by this poem.

This kind of value has profoundly influenced Wang Xufeng, who said that this era should be viewed in the state of "and new fires are tested for new tea, and poetry and wine are taken advantage of", in order to describe a complete life. "I think life itself is fused together, you can't take out an event alone, just like cutting meat, skin, meat, bones constitute the complete meat, if you specifically pick a part of it, although it can also constitute this piece of meat, but it is not whole and organic." 」

I want to create a male figure that represents the culture of southern China

Wang Xufeng writes about tea people and tea, writes about the small days of ordinary people in the big era, writes about the choice and openness, integration and progress of Chinese in the rain and smoke and rain of Jiangnan; writes about tea fragrance and tea nature, writes about the poetry and strength of Jiangnan culture, and writes about China's demeanor, feelings and character.

Wang Xufeng said that from the beginning of the "Tea Man Trilogy", she decided to create a male image that expressed the culture of southern China, and this man must be a gentle gentleman. "I really don't dare to say how the characters are portrayed, but I want to write a male image that can represent the south and at the same time represent the Chinese nation, which is my wish."

There is an authentic "Hangzhou" in "Wangjiangnan"

Wang Xufeng also wrote the beauty of Hangzhou into "WangjiangNan", "with the novel you can completely travel, this is a tourism project."

If you want to go or have just arrived in Hangzhou, you want to understand the city to do a strategy, of course, there are many ways and options. But it is still recommended that you bring a copy of "Wangjiangnan", because it can help you find the real authentic "Hangzhou".

I don't want to be a professional writer, I want to be a laborer

Industry experts commented that "Wangjiangnan" gives the soul of the individual to objects that are closely related to reality. Wang Xufeng believes that this sense of reality benefits from her "labor".

"As a person who writes novels, I think that the description of the characters in the novel, the language structure of the novel, the language temperament are very important, the relatively accurate description of the environment and the history of the times, and the structure of the relationship between the characters and the environment in this environment is also very important." If you do not eat these things thoroughly and work less, the work will be frivolous, the labor will be deep, and the work will be more solid. Labor will not deceive you. ”

Wang Xufeng experienced the hardships of the tea picking girl when she was in junior high school, and she believed that writing long novels was the same, and that it was absolutely impossible to rely on inspiration to complete the work, but to "write at sunrise and rest at sunset", "when writing long novels, she is a peasant woman, a laborer, and we must get used to this kind of day-to-day labor."

Wang Xufeng suggested, "I think it is best not to be a professional writer", "I think the beauty of daily life is extremely precious for writers, and it is impossible to experience without devoting themselves to daily life", sometimes professional writers will stand up after a long time, they will not regard writing as the soul need of their inner life, it is easy to professionalize, "so I don't want to become a professional writer, I hope to be a laborer."

Shi Zhanjun: The novel is full of Chineseness, and the story is open.-

Speaking of how to evaluate "Wangjiangnan", Shi Zhanjun, member of the party group of the China Writers Association, secretary of the Secretariat, editor-in-chief of the People's Literature magazine, and literary critic, said: "This book records the history from 1945 to 1964, which spans two societies. ”

"Sense of field" is another evaluation of "Wangjiangnan" by Shi Zhanjun. In Shi Zhanjun's view, the recommendation of this book mentions that "tea people spirit", "Jiangnan culture" and "home and country feelings" are very accurate. "Through the novel, we can see personal history, family history, and national history, and see the historical trend that the character of Chinese and the traditional quality of the Chinese nation will inevitably shine in the future."

"It is a book that can be passed down," Shi Zhanjun believes. Because the novel can reflect the interaction of people, history and culture, it contains life China, emotional China, cultural China, beautiful China, contains the "code" of values, and is a very elegant novel. And these will be told through stories, coupled with the language of Yazheng, so that these "passwords" can "moisturize and silently" enter our hearts.
