For Xu Tingting, she has been working in the cabin twice this year, once in January and once in March.
She is a head nurse at the Shanghai Public Health Center and is currently stationed in the emergency ward in Area B. During the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, she participated in the treatment of the first covid-19 patient in Shanghai. Today, she cares for a number of elderly patients in her wards. In addition to her medical work, she also served as a liaison worker, arranging wards for patients, coordinating buildings, maintaining equipment and facilities, and so on.
On April 11, the surging news (www.thepaper.cn) reporter interviewed her, and the following is her self-statement:

Shanghai Municipal Public Health Center, is the Shanghai new crown pneumonia designated hospital, in 2006 I came here to work, this is an infectious disease hospital, but at that time I did not have the slightest fear of infectious diseases, over the years of work, I witnessed the public health center to fight against influenza A, fight H7N9, prevent and control Ebola, deal with MERS, block Zika and other epidemics.
When the first case of COVID-19 appeared in Shanghai in 2020, I became one of the medical staff involved in the treatment, and watching the patient recover and be discharged from the hospital gave us great confidence. In March of that year, I joined the party in the line of fire. Since 2020, we have learned more and more about the new crown virus and accumulated a set of experience in the treatment of patients.
Since the epidemic in 2022, my colleagues and I have taken turns to work in the cabin, and now I have entered the cabin twice, once in January, staying for 28 days, during which closed-loop management, after leaving the cabin I entered a 14-day isolation observation period, and the other time was in March this year.
Our working hours are 8 hours, the maximum time into the cabin can not exceed 4 hours, you can come out to rest, take off the protective clothing, go to the toilet, eat and so on.
What is different from 2020 is that this time in the ward I am responsible for, most of the elderly patients, even the elderly over seventy or eighty years old, many patients have a very weak ability to take care of themselves, some even can only lie flat, or rely on wheelchairs, many of these elderly people have diabetes, hypertension and other underlying diseases, and even some elderly people have Alzheimer's disease.
Xu Tingting
In the face of these special groups of elderly patients, we need to invest more care and more careful care. We are worried that some elderly people have a poor memory and will forget to take medicine, so they must stare at them in person and eat the medicine before they can leave with confidence. Some patients are very difficult to care for, and sometimes several people need to help them complete, help them wash their bodies, deal with dirt, etc.
There is a new coronavirus patient with tumors in our ward, who has been bedridden for a long time before being infected, when he first entered the ward, the skin at the bottom of the tail was damaged, the normal excretion function was greatly affected, the nursing was very difficult, we helped him apply dressings to the broken parts of the tail base, disinfected clean, and now these damages are slowly shrinking. In addition, we feed him three meals a day, and in order to alleviate the pain of his illness, we will help him use painkillers.
In addition to nursing work, I also have to complete a lot of coordination and communication work, no matter how big or small, the work is often timeless, 24 hours on standby.
Xu Tingting
When the patient comes to our ward, I need to deal with many things at any time, such as which ward is suitable for the patient, the number of patients, the age, the condition, and how to arrange them to the appropriate area for treatment.
Another example is the elevator, electric lights, equipment and equipment in the ward, there are problems, I also need emergency coordination to solve, coupled with nursing work, at least one day only slept 2 hours, once again continuous busy, 3 days only slept for 8 hours, but all of them are to treat patients, while ensuring that the normal diagnosis and treatment order is not affected.
Now, I've been in the cabin for a month, and my colleagues and I are overloaded. I often miss my children, I am a second mother, the second baby went to kindergarten class, now at home by the husband to take care of, he also understands our work, treatment and rescue is the first, I hope that the next epidemic will get better, but also hope that these patients can recover as soon as possible, out of the hospital, but also hope that we can defeat the epidemic as soon as possible, everyone can return to normal life as soon as possible.
