In Eldon's Ring of Law, the BOSS Rotting Tree Spirit's AI name is "SnakeSoul", which may imply that the Rotten Tree Spirit is a reuse of a scrap in Dark Souls 3, and its design may have been modified to accommodate the Game Style of Eldon's Law Ring.
In addition, in the upper right corner of a Dark Souls 3 A-beta promotional image, we can see that there is a monster that is very similar to the rotten tree spirit in The Ring of Eldon, and it is likely to be the case.
