Appearance
Compared with babies born at 38 weeks of pregnancy, children born at 40 weeks of pregnancy will have a slightly larger head circumference. Since the fetal fat and fetal hair are cleaner and fatter, the baby's skin will be fuller and smoother.
Functional development of the lungs
Because the lungs are the latest to develop of all organs, they may not have finished developing by the time they are 37 or 38 weeks pregnant. Your baby's lungs are relatively weak and the first cry is smaller.
