There won't be E3 this year. Will Powers, a publicist for razer maker of game peripherals, said on Twitter that he received an email saying the digital event had been canceled. IGN initially reported the news, saying they also confirmed receiving emails from E3 cancellations.
The electronic entertainment expo, the industry's most influential video game show, was originally scheduled to take place this year as usual. However, in January this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, E3 once again shifted from face-to-face to online. Now, this online event seems to have been completely canceled. Players who are looking forward to the release of news and smoke bombs in the same game of the Mizo family may be disappointed, especially those who are looking forward to the News Of Switch upgraded pro or xl handheld message.
Previous years' E3 venue
Over the past few years, there has been growing concern about the fate of E3. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect people gathering, making the prospect of this very large and notoriously crowded event unattractive. Last week, some video game industry professionals reported after attending the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco that they tested positive for COVID-19. In addition to concerns about the pandemic, video game publishers are increasingly pulling out of E3 in favor of hosting their own online events such as Nintendo's Direct Showcase, EA Play Live, and Sony's State of Play.
Axios' Stephen Totilo tweeted that while not hosting the E3 show was bad news for the show's continued health, ESA said: "The E3 show will be held again in 2023, when there will be a revitalized show celebrating new and exciting video games and industry innovations." E3 2023 is expected to be an online and face-to-face event.
Hope so, but it's up to Covid to decide!
