The world's premier mixed martial arts organization, the UFC, today announced two historic initiatives in the Lion City of Singapore.
UFC275: Teixeira vs Projazca will be held on Sunday 12 June at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which will be the first UFC-ever digital race in Southeast Asia. The tournament is also the first UFC title battle in the region – UFC light heavyweight world champion Glover Teixeira takes on second-placed Giri Prohazka, while UFC women's flyweight champion Valentina Shepchenko will face fifth-placed challenger Terra Santos.
UFC275: Teixeira vs Projazca will be the fourth UFC event to be held locally with the support of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The UFC chose Singapore as it planned to resume live racing in Asia, which also has the comprehensive and outstanding infrastructure needed to host the tournament. Both are key factors in ensuring the success of top-level international events.
UFC275: While Teixeira vs Projazca is staged in Singapore, UFC will also host several events in its other major global markets, including Tokyo, London and New York. UFC World Light Heavyweight Championship Battle
In the highly competitive light heavyweights, UFC world champion Glover Teixeira (33 wins, 7 losses) will play his first title defense, with he downgrading Jan Blačovic in the second leg of UFC 267 to win the title.
