Wine is one of the most frequently seen in ancient poetry, and descriptions of borrowing wine to dispel sorrows, homesickness through wine, and drinking at banquets often appear in ancient poems. The ancient literati expressed the most wine in poetry in addition to using wine to dispel sorrows, that is, to associate wine with friendship.
For example, to bid farewell to friends and "persuade the jun to drink a glass of wine"; to meet with friends "drunkenly and laugh with the public for 30,000 times"; to reunite with friends for a long time" "a glass of wine in the spring breeze of Peach and Lee", "pour gold and lotus family miles", "fight wine to meet and get drunk"; and even invite friends on winter nights to "come late to the snow, can drink a cup of nothing" and so on. These famous sentences of writing wine are all written by writing wine to express the friendship with friends.
Among all the poems that express friendship through wine, the most widely circulated sentence is "wine is less than a thousand cups for confidants"! This famous sentence is almost a mantra among all drinkers, but any confidant who drinks wine must be drunk after "a thousand glasses of wine per confidant"!
But where did this famous phrase come from? Who is the author? A lot of people don't know! Recently, there have been many articles circulating on the Internet that this famous sentence is from a poem by the Northern Song Dynasty great writer Ouyang Xiu:
"
Spring West Lake sent thanks to Fa Cao Yun
Northern Song Dynasty Ouyang Xiu
Wine every confidant a thousand cups less,
Words are not speculative for more than half a sentence.
A bottle of wine on the Lake of Haruka,
Can remember the people of the ends of the world.
Reading this poem roughly, it is indeed a bit interesting, the first two sentences are very familiar to everyone, and the last two sentences are very meaningful, the scenes are prepared, and they are extremely moving. But under careful reading, it is not like that at all, the connection between the front and back is completely uncoordinated, which should not be Ouyang Xiu's level. In fact, the above poem is completely a piece of false rumors. Ouyang Xiu did write a poem "Spring West Lake Sends Xie Fa Cao Yun", the real original version is the following:
The spring color of the West Lake returns, and the spring water is green in dyeing.
The crowd is rotten, and the east wind is falling like grits.
Joining the army in the spring thoughts are chaotic, and the white-haired inscription poems are sad to send spring.
A bottle of wine on the lake can remember the people of the world.
Wanli Sichun is still affectionate, and suddenly spring is a guest's heart.
The snow disappears outside the door, the mountains are green, and the flowers are sunny in February by the river.
The young man put the wine in spring, and today the spring head is white.
Foreign countries are different from people, but the east wind is old acquaintance.
This poem was composed after Ouyang Xiu was degraded to Yingzhou in his later years, and the poem mainly depicts the scenery of Yingzhou's West Lake and the love of missing friends, and further expresses the loneliness and homesickness of being in a foreign land. One of the sentences, "A bottle of wine on the Lake of Remote Knowledge, can remember the people of the end of the world" is extremely moving and deeply loved by people.
But throughout the poem, there is no place where there is a sentence of "wine is a thousand cups less for confidants", so where does this famous sentence come from? In fact, this famous sentence has no conclusive provenance so far, let alone who the author is.
In fact, these two poems first came from the Southern Song Dynasty's enlightenment reading "Mingxian Collection", the author is unknown. Later, it was quoted in the "Journey to the West" written by Yang Xian in the Yuan Dynasty: "On that day, there are few wines and confidants, and the words are not speculative." The later Ming Dynasty's "Pipa Record", the Qing Dynasty's "Hall of Eternal Life", "Dangkou Zhi" and so on are also quoted.
Therefore, the ancient famous phrase "wine is a thousand cups less than a confidant" only knows the source, but does not know who the author is.
