Xiao A is a child with severe autism who came to the Children's Rehabilitation Clinic of Guangming District Maternal and Child Health Hospital for rehabilitation treatment 2 years ago. Through professional assessment and trial lessons, the therapist tailored a personalized rehabilitation training plan for Little A. At the beginning, the resistance of children with autism to unfamiliar environments was vividly expressed in Little A, which lasted for up to 2 months. In the past 2 years, professional training, uninterrupted classes, and active cooperation of parents have made great progress in making Small A, and now Little A can greet people under guidance, play with peers of the same age and share toys, can independently complete life self-care activities such as wearing shoes and eating, and can even express self-needs, identify most of the daily necessities, etc., so that parents can see hope. Examples of this abound in the rehabilitation process at the Guangming District Maternal and Child Health Hospital.
In September 2019, the Guangming District Maternal and Child Health Hospital was officially launched, and the door to the rehabilitation of special children was opened at the same time. Since its establishment, Guangming District Maternal and Child Health Hospital has been vigorously developing medical rehabilitation and educational rehabilitation for special children to escort special children. At that time, there were only 4 rehabilitation therapists, and fewer than 30 children were recovered in the hospital. Although many parents come here, they choose other hospitals or private institutions for rehabilitation training because the waiting time is too long. In order to improve the situation, the hospital introduced a number of experienced highly educated and high-quality therapists, and purchased a number of sets of rehabilitation, teaching and evaluation tools in batches to meet the needs of rehabilitation training for special children.
At the same time, in order to reduce the burden on the families of special children, the Guangming District Maternal and Child Health Hospital actively applied, and became a unit of the Shenzhen Autism Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Specialist Alliance in August 2019, and successfully became a designated rehabilitation institution for the spiritual and intellectual categories of the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation in July 2020; held a number of public welfare activities to lay the foundation for the integration of special children into society through different forms.
At present, the rehabilitation treatment of the Guangming District Maternal and Child Health Hospital is being carried out in an orderly manner, and the waiting time for scheduled classes has been shortened from the original 1-2 months to 1-2 weeks.
