We've become so accustomed to the traditional style of new energy vehicles that we're amazed when we see Alpha Alpha's new designs. They quietly launched an updated Ace Coupe lineup. The model is scheduled to be available in the form of Ace, Ace Performance Edition and Super Ace, with "a significant increase in wheelbase to accommodate next-generation battery technology." Of course, such a non-mainstream design means that it may have to face a niche user base in the future.
The company did not elaborate, but noted that the module model is now 168.5 inches (4,280 mm) long, 72.4 inches (1,840 mm) wide and 56.3 inches (1,430 mm) high. While the company only mentions the increase in wheelbase, all dimensions have changed, as the coupe is now 3.9 inches (100 mm) longer, 1.8 inches (46 mm) narrower and 0.8 inches (20 mm) lower than before.
These are not the only changes, as the updated model is equipped with new headlights and a slightly modified grille. The interior also looks more suitable for mass production, as it is equipped with a digital instrument cluster, a smaller infotainment system, vents and a basic center console.
In addition, Alpha has partnered with AMP to create an "all-encompassing 'energy ecosystem' that includes eCloud, battery management systems, and cutting-edge charging solutions." The company says the solution enables two-way charging as well as small, lightweight and energy-efficient energy management units that increase range. The company went on to say that their vision is an on-board charger with DC fast charging capability and a capacity of up to 11 kW.
Despite these changes, the company still lists the same performance specifications for both new and old models. This should have caught a lot of attention, but Alpha claims that the updated Ace should weigh 3,600 pounds (1,633 kg), have a range of 250+ miles (402+ kilometers), and accelerate 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in six seconds. However, the company notes that all specifications are "budget estimates" and that they are subject to change as the updated Ace is finally released.
There's no word yet on when the model will be sold, but the company says it's been "working hard to make their models available through lean manufacturing, distribution partnerships, and partnerships with Metaverse." Of course, whether they will eventually be able to achieve mass production may be a more important question than when to sell. Such avant-garde product design will eventually face the test of the market.
