The United States on behalf of the United Nations? Blinken's false words: not condemning Russia is contrary to the Charter of the United Nations

author:Fa Yuan Qunying

For the United States, the Russo-Ukrainian war was undoubtedly a complete geopolitical defeat. But it is precisely because it wants to save the defeat that the United States has been extra hard at suppressing Russia with sanctions, and it is particularly harsh on whether other countries in the world will follow its sanctions against Russia.

It's just that in the eyes of most normal people, this kind of harshness in the United States has completely reached an unbelievable point:

Just recently, US Secretary of State Blinken openly declared that China's failure to follow its lead in condemning Russia is a violation of the UN Charter.

Blinken

According to reports, Blinken made the above views in an interview with CNN on March 15, local time.

"China's rhetorical support, or at least no explicit condemnation of, Russia's actions runs counter to everything that China claims to support, including the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations, including respect for national sovereignty," Blinken declared. China is on the wrong side of history. ”

Blinken then added: "The United States is concerned about the prospect of China providing material support to Russia or undermining the sanctions we have imposed with countries around the world... If China supports Russia, the United States will not sit idly by. ”

Because China did not follow the United States in sanctioning Russia, is it violating the Charter of the United Nations? Is it not respect for national sovereignty? Is it on the wrong side of history?

Blinken's remarks are obviously worth refuting one by one.

First of all, does China's behavior violate the Charter of the United Nations?

The Charter of the United Nations is the basic law of the United Nations, which establishes the purposes and principles of the United Nations, stipulates the responsibilities, rights and obligations of member States, and the basic principles and methods for handling international relations and maintaining world peace and security.

Because of its length, we will not go through the contents of the Charter in its entirety, but what is certain is that the purpose of the United Nations is to "maintain international peace and security", "put an end to acts of aggression" and "to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples".

In addition, the Charter provides that the United Nations and its member States shall be guided by the principles of the sovereign equality of States, the peaceful settlement of international disputes by States, the non-use or threat of force in international relations and the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of States.

Charter of the United Nations

Yes, in terms of mere action, this war was indeed launched by Russia against Ukraine, to settle international disputes in a non-peaceful manner and to intervene in the internal affairs of other countries by force. In particular, Russia itself is still one of the five permanent members of the United Nations, and its blatant war against Ukraine, which is also a member of the United Nations, has undoubtedly played a very bad negative role model within the United Nations.

But the problem is that it is precisely the United States that stands behind Ukraine in the first threat to other countries in a non-peaceful way: if it were not for the US government deliberately instigating Ukraine to join NATO, a military alliance organization with anti-Russian as its main strategic goal, posing a direct threat to Russia's geopolitical security and ignoring it after many diplomatic protests by the Russian government, Russia would not have made a final attempt in the form of war.

From this point of view, at least all the responsibility for this war cannot be borne by Russia – the United States, which ignores Russia's geopolitical security demands, and Ukraine, which blindly credulously believes in the United States, must bear some responsibility.

United States and Ukraine

It is precisely because of this that China has made clear its attitude towards the Russo-Ukrainian war from the very beginning:

On the Ukraine issue, China has always acted in an objective and impartial manner and made judgments independently and autonomously on the basis of the merits of the matter itself.

In other words, China is not one-sided support for Russia in launching this war, but reminds the world that it is necessary to distinguish between the Russian-American conflict and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. As a responsible major country, China will continue to play a constructive role in safeguarding world peace and stability. China has always abided by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, attached importance to the security concerns of all countries and supported all efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of crises.

However, contrary to China's responsible attitude, US Secretary of State Blinken deliberately confused the Russian-Ukrainian conflict with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict with the Russian-American conflict with the evil person's first complaint. After passing all the blame on Russia, thus drawing a conclusion that "Russia is the original sin", occupying the commanding heights of public opinion, he immediately turned the gun and forced China to follow its own sanctions against Russia and must diplomatically condemn Russia with the logic of moral kidnapping.

We are compelled to ask Blinken who is violating the spirit of the Charter of the United Nations in terms of Your Excellency's complete disregard for the merits of the issue itself, his disregard for Russia's geopolitical security demands, and his condemnation of Russia as a political stance?

Second, does China not respect the national sovereignty of other countries?

Russia's behavior is indeed a gross violation of Ukraine's national sovereignty, but it is precisely because of this that China calls on all countries to resolve the relevant crisis by peaceful means such as diplomacy, respect and listen to the interests of both sides of the conflict, and not to add fuel to the fire by excessive means such as sanctions.

And it should be noted that in terms of respecting the sovereignty of other countries, the United States is the most typical negative teaching material for a long time:

In 1999, the United States led NATO to launch a large-scale air strike against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia without the authorization of the United Nations, resulting in thousands of civilian casualties in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, citing the so-called human rights crisis;

In 2001, because of the terrorist attack on its homeland, the United States brazenly launched an all-out war against the sovereign country of Afghanistan, and after spending 20 years smashing the country to pieces, it irresponsibly chose a total retreat;

In 2003, the United States brazenly launched an all-out war against Iraq on the pretext of the illusory "weapons of mass destruction", but after the overthrow of Saddam's regime, the existence of so-called "weapons of mass destruction" quickly disappeared...

Not to mention that in the face of China, the United States has repeatedly violated China's national sovereignty on Issues such as Taiwan, the South China Sea, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong. It is ironic that such a country can accuse China of not respecting national sovereignty.

U.S. hegemony

Finally, is China on the wrong side of history?

The so-called "standing on the wrong side of history" refers to misjudging the historical situation and choosing a path that runs counter to international justice, justice, and the common interests of most countries.

But Blinken's criticism of China's refusal to follow the United States in this way is obviously a thief shouting to catch a thief – as mentioned above, the United States still does not give up its suppression of Russia in the post-Cold War era, and the intensification of the use of NATO's eastward expansion to squeeze Russia's strategic living space is the main culprit that led to the concentrated outbreak of all contradictions in the form of war.

In fact, as early as the 1990s, George Kennan, the former US ambassador to the Soviet Union, who had accurately judged the arrival of the Cold War with a "Kennan long telegram", warned the US government, which was ecstatic about the collapse of the Soviet Union at that time, that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the policy of still regarding NATO as a tool of suppression against Russia and nato's eastward expansion as an effective action to contain Russia would become the most fatal mistake in the US policy toward Russia.

George Kennan

In recent days, former US Congressman Gabbard publicly told the media that as long as the United States promises not to accept Ukraine into NATO, it can end the crisis and prevent the outbreak of war, but the US government will not do so. Because the U.S. military-industrial complex controls the Biden administration, Washington doesn't want stability, and the military-industrial complex needs war to make a profit. Therefore, the United States chose to sit back and watch the situation escalate, or even add oil and vinegar, which eventually led to the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

At the Foreign Ministry's press conference on March 17, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that the key to resolving the Ukrainian crisis is in the hands of the United States and NATO, and we hope that the United States and NATO, as the initiators of the crisis, will reflect on their role in the Ukrainian crisis, earnestly assume their due responsibilities, take practical actions to ease the situation and solve the problem, and resolve the conflict in Ukraine at an early date. We also hope that the United States can truly work with most of the developing countries in the world to stand on the side of peace and justice and promote the early relaxation of the situation in Ukraine.

So let's finally ask Blinken again: Which country is now on the wrong side of history?

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian

The reason why US Secretary of State Blinken wants to make this obviously upside-down accusation against China is that the United States is now angry and corrupt:

The White House urgently needs to save the face of the US "world hegemon" in this matter, fearing that China and Russia standing together will make all these "efforts" fail, but there is nothing they can do about a powerful China, and in the end, they can only criticize China from the moral high ground in the way they are best at verbal cannons, in order to try to carry out a wave of moral kidnapping against China.

But the so-called fairness is in the hearts of the people, whether the US government is black or white in this matter, and whether China's attitude toward Ukraine is fair, the whole world knows that this will not change no matter how much nonsense Blinken says.

So Mr. Blinken, if you're really going to do something for the good of the United States, shut up and think about how to get more aid for Ukraine. The United States is infamous in the world, but as secretary of state, he is still chattering about other countries, which is pure sadness.
