This is the shanghai museum's second exhibition of donated cultural relics after last year's "Prosperous Thousand Autumns" and "Gaoshan Mountain Tour", and it is also the 33rd exhibition of donated cultural relics held by the Shanghai Museum since its establishment, in addition to the permanent exhibition.
Yang Zhigang, director of the Shanghai Museum, revealed that the countdown to the completion and opening of the East Hall of the Shanghai Museum has entered the countdown, and the People's Square building will usher in the first closed overhaul after the establishment of the museum. According to reports, as of the end of 2021, the Shanghai Museum has more than 1.02 million cultural relics and more than 140,000 precious cultural relics. Among the cultural relics in the collection, more than 88,000 are donated by people from all walks of life, including more than 33,000 precious cultural relics and more than 55,000 general cultural relics, accounting for about 8.6% of the total collection of cultural relics and 23.6% of the total precious cultural relics in the collection. On September 14, 2017, the Shanghai Museum announced the full launch of the first phase of the overhaul project, and from October 9 of that year, the museum will be closed every Monday. According to reports, at that time, the first phase of the overhaul needed to be carried out immediately, because the safety of cultural relics was threatened by the aging of the equipment, and it could not be delayed any longer." According to the plan at that time, the first phase of the project was not closed, and the second phase of the project would start a closed overhaul after the opening of the Shangbo East Pavilion.
