Regarding the Polar Star 2 car, many car critics have given high praise, but the sales volume has not been high in the past two years, which makes me have a very high curiosity about this car. So, when I got the car keys of the Polar Star 2 dual motor version, my heart was really happy.
For people who are used to watching a variety of bold and avant-garde electric vehicles, when they first see the PoleStar 2, they are a bit disappointed to be honest, because at first glance it really looks like a mediocre fuel car.
Retaining a design similar to the grille, there is no low body, no frameless windows, no leather in the interior, no large pieces of solid wood, the screen is not very large, and even the car keys feel low-key. Friends say it looks like neither a sedan nor an SUV, in the parlance of Polestar, called a crossover coupe.
But when you really taste it, you will find that it has a gentleman's elegance. The body lines are square, there are not many lines, no chrome plating, not too many layers, and the overall design is uncompromising minimalism. Logo does not hit the eye, but will be with the body color with different colors, the whole with the car; Quake's high-tech headlights; obsessively placed in the middle of the grille camera and radar; frameless upside-down rear mirrors; hatchback tailbox to bring large openings to facilitate the placement, with a partition inside to prevent small objects from shaking; through-the-air stereo taillights show different brightness with different environments and braking force. These details make the whole car look low-key and connotative.
The interior is also the first glance of the Nordic cold wind, without the luxury of Nappa, Alcantara, large screen, atmosphere lights, but it is pure with a sense of futurism, this sense of futurism is not the mainstream big screen brought by the sense of technology, or Tesla's minimalist cabin. Its futuristic feel comes from the workmanship of its materials and details.
Nordic Gene has put into practice environmental protection, and the seat fabrics and interior packages of Polar Star 2 are made of environmentally friendly materials. The seat fabric uses The WeaveTech of professional wetsuits, which is full of technology. The drink drip on top and gently wipe it clean, I am afraid it will be a blessing for the grandfathers. Although the seat feels hard, but the wrapping and support are very good, sitting for a long time will not collapse, after exposure to the sun will not be particularly absorbing heat, which is indeed a blessing for the owners of the south. However, also because the fabric can not achieve seat ventilation, there are gains and losses. The front seat comes with a leg rest, and in actual use, the thighs are indeed comfortable, and it is indeed a big compliment in detail.
The interior material of the whole car does not use leather, but the soft place is also soft. Harman Kardon's sound, with different presets to choose from, sound effect is very good. Polar Star's customized panoramic sunroof glass, as well as the LOGO inside the exquisite gear, the LOGO of the roof glass projection, the unique design of the air conditioner outlet, etc., in many details, there are low-key careful thoughts.
However, the rear space of polar star 2 is not very generous, especially the middle bulge is very high, making it difficult for the back seat to ride a third person.

But if the exterior and interior are controversial, then when it comes to performance and handling, the excellence of Polar Star is indisputable. In the course of seven days, I drove the PoleStar 2 through guangzhou's large and small city sections, ran more than 1,000 kilometers of highways and township roads, and I really fell in love with the driving experience of this car. It drives more like an excellent fuel car, no doubt surpassing its peers.
Before driving to the Pole Star, I was thinking about how to call an electric car to open. The emergence of electric motors has made it easy for electric vehicles to have the acceleration of high-performance fuel sports cars, making it easier and easier for a car to run faster. But good power and fast acceleration does not mean that the car must be easy to drive, reckless fast, insufficient support, poor directivity will lead to a fast car to make people move. When car companies with enough experience in power calibration and chassis tuning enter the electric vehicle track, trams begin to become more and more advanced.
From the very beginning of its existence, Polestar has been volvo's performance department and has rich experience in the development of performance cars. From the book data, this Polaris 2 dual-motor four-wheel drive version, 300kW, 660Nm, 100 km/h acceleration of 4.7 seconds, this data can be fully comparable to high-performance sports cars.
But this kind of fastness is not stupid fast. The acceleration of Polar star 2 is a gradual upward, increasingly abundant output, very linear and smooth, without the abruptness and uneasiness caused by the violent acceleration. As the acceleration pedal is pressed down, the power output becomes fuller. Just like a gentleman hiding an instrument in his body, waiting for the time to move. There is enough power reserve, but gives you a gentle sense of output.
Similarly, in terms of braking, although the first foot feels hard, it is also very linear. The brembo four-piston brake caliper starts braking as soon as it is pressed, and the deceleration process is very consistent with the depth of the step, which is very reassuring.
And this excellent acceleration and braking feeling, if there is no good enough chassis, will make people feel like a cruise ship. But the chassis of PoleStar 2 is amazing. The overall bias movement has a very solid support, and the roll is also very well controlled in curves with large curvature. The optional OHLINS adjustable suspension allows the entire body to have enough support, and the potholes are very crisp, but not as hard as the butt. It's really about combining comfort and handling.
This kind of excellent tuning makes this two-ton car very light and flexible. Especially when driving on mountain roads, parallel lines, and corners make me feel like I have a car in one, down-to-earth, confident, and fun.
Volvo's safety is its signature, and the same is true on pole stars. Regardless of the material or design, including the car machine, safety is placed in a very high position. But again, this makes the forward-looking function of autonomous driving not appear on this car. After getting used to the automatic assisted driving of Xiaopeng and Tesla, the pilot driving of Polar Star is very cautious, and at most it can achieve lane keeping, relying more on people's driving control, which is indeed conservative enough.
If the most regrettable thing about this car is its endurance. The official nedc is 512 km, which is not outstanding in terms of data.
During the Spring Festival, I drove the Pole Star 2 from downtown Guangzhou to Yunfu Xinxing, a distance of 156 kilometers, showing 93% of the power at departure and a range of 480 kilometers. The road conditions are 10% urban section, 85% highway and 5% mountain road. The three people in the car, due to the low temperature on rainy days, turned on the heating, the energy recovery was 0, the driving process did not deliberately save electricity, and the high speed was more. When actually arriving, it shows that the remaining battery is 40% and the endurance is 200 kilometers. That is, 156 kilometers of road, which consumes 280 kilometers of electricity. Of course, this is not a rigorous test, and because the driving habit is biased towards movement, frequent acceleration and starting, the energy consumption is high. If it is normal driving, the endurance is about 25% off.
These seven days of driving Polestar 2 really made me fall in love with it. It is like a gentleman, hidden in the body, from the design to the driving experience, it belongs to the low-key solid and has connotations. It's not the first car to fall in love with, but when you spend some time with it, you'll be completely conquered by it.
The first impression of electric vehicles is fast, but with the development of electric vehicles, a good car is definitely not measured by zero hundred acceleration time, but the overall feeling of power and overall driving control.
