On March 3, Samsung Semiconductor officially announced that the Samsung LPDDR5X DRAM has been verified for use on the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform.
It is understood that since the development of Samsung's first 14nm-based LPDDR5X DRAM in November last year, Samsung has worked closely with Qualcomm Technologies to optimize the 7.5 gigabits per second (Gbps) LPDDR5X for the Snapdragon mobile platform.
Samsung officials also said that the speed of LPDDR5X is about 1.2 times faster than the LPDDR5 (6.4Gbps) on current high-end smartphones, which is expected to improve ultra-high-resolution video recording performance and artificial intelligence functions such as speech recognition, image recognition, and natural language processing on the next generation of smartphones. In addition, the power consumption of the LPDDR5X can be reduced by about 20%.
