Recently, Huawei Rotating Chairman Guo Ping delivered a keynote speech during the MWC2022 Barcelona Exhibition, saying that Huawei will not withdraw from overseas markets, and also made it clear that Huawei will significantly increase its strategic investment in root technology and strive to reconstruct the technical base, including trying to break through Shannon Theory and breakthrough chip technology.

According to Guo Ping, Huawei is working hard to achieve three reconstructions: basic theory, architecture, and software. These three restructurings will support the long-term sustainable development of the ICT industry.

Huawei announced that it will increase its technology investment: try to surpass Shannon's limits and break through the chip process

The first is theoretical reconstruction.

Taking channel capacity increase as an example, Guo Ping said that the channel capacity is close to the ceiling.

Huawei continues to explore theories and technologies such as a new generation of MIMO and wireless AI to further approach the Shannon limit, and at the same time research new theories such as semantic communication, trying to surpass the Shannon limit and open up a broader development space for communication.

The second is architectural refactoring.

Guo Ping said that wireless communications are still facing major technical challenges such as high frequencies, ultra-large bandwidth, and ultra-high speed, and Huawei is actively exploring new technologies to reconstruct the architecture, such as introducing optoelectronic fusion technology, solving key problems, and breaking through the process bottlenecks faced by future chips.

The current contradiction of computing architecture is that AI and big data applications are booming, while traditional computing architectures are still "CPU-centric". In order to solve this contradiction, Huawei is designing a "peer-to-peer" architecture so that GPUs, NPUs, etc. can better support the development of global AI services.

Finally, there is software refactoring.

Guo Ping mentioned that facing the future, with the outbreak of AI, the demand for computing power has increased sharply, but the progress of hardware technology has slowed down, so Huawei has proposed a "software performance doubling plan", such as: the number of wireless cells and scheduling users and other key indicators have been doubled through software optimization;

Huawei will more effectively exert the computing power potential of diversified hardware through Hongmeng and Euler, and help scientists and engineers improve development efficiency through the Mindspore framework.

Huawei's AI-centric full-stack software reconstruction is expected to create a new ecosystem and bring new opportunities to customers and the software industry.
