MediaTek announced the launch of a new generation of light flagship SoCs, called the Tianji 8000 series, including the Density 8100 and Density 8000. MediaTek said the new SoC could bring more advanced network connectivity, as well as gaming, multimedia and imaging technologies, to high-end 5G smartphones.
Both the Tianji 8100 and Tianji 8000 are manufactured using TSMC's 5nm process, with an eight-core architecture in the CPU part, including four large cores (Cortex-A78) and four small cores (Cortex-A55). Among them, the large core frequency of Tianji 8100 is 2.85GHz, and the frequency of Tianji 8000 is 2.75GHz. The GPUs of the Tianji 8000 series are arm mali-G610 with six cores, integrated mediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 game engine, support for quad-channel LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 flash memory. In addition, the Tianji 8000 series also integrates the fifth generation AI processor APU 580 and is equipped with the Imagiq 780 image signal processor.
The Tianji 8000 Series supports up to 200 million pixel cameras, as well as 4K60 HDR10+ and dual-camera HDR video recording, and introduces MediaTek's latest AI noise reduction and AI anti-blur technology; the 5G modem is compliant with the 3GPP R16 standard, supporting 5G Sub-6GHz full-band network and 2CC CA dual-carrier aggregation technology; supporting MediaTek 5G UltraSave 2.0 power saving technology; and supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as Wi-Fi Bluetooth dual-connection anti-interference technology.
This time, in addition to releasing the Tianji 8000 series, MediaTek also launched the Tianji 1300 5G mobile platform.
The 1300 is also an octa-core architecture in the CPU part, including a super core ([email protected] GHz), three large cores (Cortex-A78) and four small cores (Cortex-A55), with a GPU of Arm-Mali G77, and a mediatek third-generation APU. It supports up to 200 million pixel cameras and integrates the MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 game engine.
MediaTek said that terminals equipped with Tianji 8100, Tianji 8000 and Tianji 1300 will be listed in the first quarter and second quarter of 2022.
