As you advance through the vast open world of the Eldon Ring, you'll naturally accumulate a large number of runes (i.e., experience points) from defeated enemies that you can use to level up your character and improve your form. Leveling up is a key part of the game, as you won't have enough HP, mana, stamina, and damage to defeat powerful enemies, and if you're having trouble dealing with bosses or enemies in a certain area, leveling up is one of the best ways to improve your combat efficiency, giving you a better chance of success.
However, when you feel like you want to upgrade, you don't have a lot of runes, and you need to get them manually. There are many ways to get runes, for example, you can repeatedly kill specific groups of enemies that drop a large number of runes, but the fastest and most effective way in Eldon's Ring of Law is a farm that you can enter at the beginning of the game, and this way doesn't even require you to fight.
Get a lot of runes
You'll need to find and use at least three blessing points in the open world to unlock your mount, the Torrent. However, before you can get the runes, you'll need to reach a specific location in the game's Dragonbarrow.
First, head to the eastern corner of the water source, just north of the Third Church in Limgrave. There, you'll find a small purple portal, and interacting with it, it will teleport you to Dragonbarrow (the location of the portal is shown in the image above).
Through the portal, you'll safely reach Dragonbarrow, just behind a mob at the entrance. You'll need to run past the mob and continue running to the left, heading south over a small bridge to reach a tower. Find Lenne's Rise Site of Grace nearby, where you can rest to reset all the enemies who are chasing you. After resting, look west for the road leading to under the arch. Get on your mount and start walking along the road.
Once you're under the arch, a huge ball rolls towards you behind you (pictured above). The key to getting runes is that once the ball comes out, you start riding your mount near the edge, making it roll past you, which will give you 1952 runes, and then you can go back to Lenne's Rise Site of Grace, get the ball out again, and repeat the steps above. That way, you can complete about five of these loops per minute, and you can get nearly 600,000 runes per hour.
If you don't like this and prefer to fight, another effective way to get runes is to kill five big bosses, just south of Stormhill's Warmaster's Shack Site of Grace (pictured above). These bosses drop 1000 runes when killed and aren't hard to defeat, so this is another effective way to get them instead of farms.
