The hospital's operating room hides an "amusement park."

At 10:10 a.m. on February 23, in the children's waiting area of the operating room of the First People's Hospital of Zhengzhou, Xuanxuan (pseudonym), a 2-and-a-half-year-old child waiting for surgery, sat on a soft floor mat, looking at a picture book, playing with toys, and spent a happy preoperative waiting time accompanied by nursing staff.

"I didn't expect such a cozy place in the operating room. I was very nervous about the child's surgery, and when the child came all the way, the child was still crying, but Xuan Xuan arrived at the child's preoperative waiting area, and his attention was immediately attracted, and when he saw the child relax, my anxiety gradually dissolved. Xuanxuan's mother said.

In the past, in the waiting area of the operating room, the "bitter love drama" between parents and children was often staged, and in the face of the upcoming operation, the children were both afraid and helpless, and the cries of "tearing their hearts and lungs" often filled the entire operating room waiting area, and parents could only be outside with both heartache and anxiety.

"The establishment of a preoperative waiting area for children is, on the one hand, to prevent children from crying too much and causing increased secretions, which in turn affects the effect of anesthesia and surgery; on the other hand, it is to improve the experience of medical treatment for children and reduce the fear of children entering the operating room." Hu Jiying, director of the operating room of the First People's Hospital of Zhengzhou, said.

The idea of the preoperative waiting area came from the brainstorming of all the nursing staff in the operating room. The toys and picture books inside are donated by the staff of the general department, and the department staff will disinfect the toys and picture books twice a day. In the children's waiting area, the nursing staff and a parent can accompany and guide the child, so that the child who was originally full of fear can establish a close relationship with the surgical staff in a short period of time, help the child quickly familiarize himself with the operating room environment, improve tension, cooperate with the medical staff to improve the efficiency of preoperative preparation, and ensure the smooth progress of the operation.

Since its opening at the beginning of this year, the children's preoperative waiting area of Zhengzhou First People's Hospital has provided intimate services to hundreds of children.
