Emirates cut flights to nine cities, including San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Seattle and Boston, ANA canceled all flights to Seattle and Los Angeles, and JAL cancelled flights from Haneda to JFK Airport.
The reason for canceling flights to the United States is because 5G base stations in the United States may interfere with Boeing 777 aircraft, and these airlines do not want to take this risk.

5G network frequency band is mainly divided into millimeter wave and centimeter wave (also known as Sub-6GHz) two kinds, centimeter wave transmission speed is smaller than millimeter wave, which is more superior millimeter wave performance. However, millimeter wave has a very fatal flaw, that is, the coverage distance is extremely short, the coverage of millimeter wave is only about 150 meters, and it is easy to be blocked by large trees, high-rise buildings and other objects.

In 2019, the UAE and Huawei reached a cooperation to build 600 5G base stations together to achieve nationwide coverage of 5G networks. After that, the United States put pressure on the UAE to stop using Huawei's 5G equipment, and the UAE did not give in, preferring not to buy the F-35 of the United States and to cooperate with Huawei.
Now the UAE has proven right. In 2021, more than 600,000 new 5G base stations will be built in the mainland, and a total of 1.4 million 5G base stations have been established in the mainland so far. First of all, the mainland uses centimeter waves, the coverage is wider, and 5G outlets do not need to be built so densely. Secondly, the 5G band used by the mainland is generally 3.5GHz and 4.8GHz, which is far from the band of aircraft radar. In addition, the airports on the mainland are in relatively remote places, and the 5G base stations in the urban area cannot affect the airport at all.
The airports in the United States are located in downtown areas, so in order to ensure that residents, shops, etc. on the airport side cover the 5G network, the use of millimeter wave 5G equipment, telecommunications companies have to deploy 5G communication base stations around the airport.
