Social harmony is not an ideal and can be achieved through education.

Article 214::

[The first king saw that the teachings could transform the people into love, and the people did not leave their relatives; Chen Zhi was virtuous and righteous, and the people were prosperous; the first was to give in, and the people did not argue; the Tao was based on liturgy, and the people were harmonious; they showed likes and dislikes, and the people know forbidden.] 】

This passage is from the Book of Filial Piety, volume IX of the Qunshu Zhijiao.

"The first king saw that the teaching can transform the people", and the ancient saint king understood that the education of obedience to human nature can impress the people. It can be seen that the ancient sages had great confidence in education, believing that people could teach well, and also believing that social harmony was not an ideal, but could be achieved, and that there had been many prosperous times in Chinese history, which were achieved by the implementation of sage education. So, the results of the sage education can be achieved in ancient times, and can they be equally true today? The answer is yes, the key is how to teach.

Later, it is said: "It is the reason that the people are fraternal first, and the people do not leave their relatives behind", that is to say, the leaders must take the lead in practicing fraternity, and the people will be affected, and there will be no abandonment of their relatives, so it is very important to work upwards and downwards.

"Chen Zhi is virtuous and righteous, and the people are prosperous", preaching benevolence and righteousness to the people, the people will be inspired, and they will rise up and imitate it. That is to say, to tell people what is "virtue" and let people know what is right, what is wrong, what is glory, and what is shame. The note says, "If the people are righteous, the people will not dare to disobey", and if the leaders above all like morality, then the people will not disobey and imitate.

The Book of Rites also says, "In the things that are done, do not do what they command." The good is the thing, and the bottom must be very good. Therefore, what is liked and disliked above must not be careless, but it is also the expression of the people." A subordinate serves a superior not by the orders he gives, but by his actions. If the person above likes something, then the person below will only like it more than he (the person above). Therefore, the things that the superior leaders like or dislike cannot be careless, because they are the role models of the people.

It can be seen that if leaders really hope that the social atmosphere will improve and that people's moral quality will be generally improved, then they should take the lead in setting an example, first receive ethical and moral education, learn traditional culture, and then publicize the audio-visual activities of learning to listen to lectures and practice themselves through radio and television, and the public will rise up and follow suit after seeing it, and the whole society will truly form an atmosphere of attaching importance to ethics and morality and attaching importance to traditional culture.

If the leader can do it first, then the people will be embarrassed to compete and contest with each other. "If King Wen respectfully surrenders to the dynasty, Yu and Rui push the bank to the wild." If it goes up, it will follow it."

Historically, the monarchs of Yu and Rui have been at odds over the boundaries of Tianpan. They heard that Xi Bochang, later King Wen of Zhou, was a virtuous man, so they wanted Xi Bochang to rule for them. But after they came to Zhoudi, they saw that the Zhou people pushed each other's boundaries when ploughing the fields and gave way to each other when they walked; when they arrived at the capital of Zhou, they saw that men and women were walking their own roads, and the old people did not have to carry things on their backs on the road, and there were young people next to them to help take care of them; when they arrived at the Zhou imperial court, they saw that the civil and military officials were all polite and courteous, and the scholars and doctors and doctors were all humble and courteous to each other.

Therefore, it was precisely because of seeing this that the monarchs of the two countries were very ashamed, so they were not embarrassed to look for Xi Bochang to comment on it, so they went back ashamed. King Wen of Zhou himself was first and foremost a benevolent gentleman, able to be humble and respectful, and to be effective from top to bottom, and as a result, he not only impressed his own people, but also made the monarchs of Yu and Rui feel inspired.

"The Word is liturgical, and the people are harmonious." In ancient China, the Ming kings and kings ruled the country with ritual music, like the Analects of Tabor, Confucius said, "Flourish in poetry, stand in etiquette, and become happy", because ritual music is essential for balancing people's inner emotions and external behavior, and in order to achieve social harmony and order. The reason why Li Le has such a function is because they originate from the harmony and order of nature in heaven and earth, as stated in the Book of Rites and Music, "The musician, the sum of heaven and earth; the liturgical person, the order of heaven and earth."

First of all, where does this "ritual" come from? It comes from imitating the natural order of heaven and earth. The sun, moon, and stars in the sky do not contradict each other, the mountains and seas and plains on the ground are suitable for each other, the spring, summer, autumn, autumn, harvest and winter, and the cycle of the four seasons is endless, which is the natural order of heaven and earth, and it is also the source of "ritual". "Ritual" imitates the natural order of heaven and earth, and the human social order stipulated is the "five luns", that is, father and son have relatives, kings and subjects have righteousness, husband and wife are different, elders and children are orderly, and friends have faith.

Of these five luns, two of them (i.e., father and son, elder and young) are heavenly luns, that is, natural ethical relations. These orders are natural and cannot be disturbed. Therefore, the purpose of the saintly ceremony is to maintain the five-lun relationship, to maintain human dignity, and then to serve as the basis of monasticism.

In "The University", it is said that "the way of the university is in Mingmingde, in the people, and in the ultimate good.". When we study Confucianism, we must focus on cultivation, and cultivation must be fixed, that is, to maintain concentration; and to cultivate, we must first make our behavior orderly, not only can we not deal with the five lun relations disorderly, but even in the face of everything, we cannot be confused, even if books, stationery, and daily necessities are placed in a fixed place, so that they can be taken at hand when they need to be used. Cultivators are to be able to develop the habit of not being chaotic, and gradually to be able to achieve pure oneness in their hearts, and over time, the concentration and Dao power will naturally exist, so that even if they encounter major events, they can calmly deal with them, even if they reach the critical point of life and death, they will not be in a hurry.

Confucian etiquette and "ritual" education can be learned and must be learned, no matter which one is wise, middle-aged, or inferior. To learn a point is to receive a point, to learn ten points is to be very useful, to learn perfection is to achieve the path and become a saint. It is precisely because "etiquette" is crucial to being a human being, so Confucius paid special attention to etiquette. However, due to certain reasons, in the past, some people obstructed the great beauty with small defects, criticized etiquette, opposed etiquette, said how etiquette was not good, and even prevented ordinary people from learning etiquette, and as a result, many people were affected, and they had misunderstandings and prejudices about etiquette, in fact, these people did not understand etiquette, did not understand the deep meaning of etiquette, and did not know the use of etiquette, which is a very regrettable thing.

Therefore, those who aspire to learn Confucianism should not follow the crowd and listen to some fallacious reasoning and heresies, but should take the sages as their teachers and the classics as their teachers, accept the indoctrination of the saints, establish correct insights, not only learn for themselves, but also persuade others to learn and become their own things, so that they can make a contribution to the revival of China's excellent traditional culture.

"Musician, the sum of heaven and earth", that is to say, truly great music can successfully simulate the harmony of nature, only such music is meaningful and desirable, so the purpose of music should be to pursue harmony. Moreover, the ancient Chinese believed that music can not only reflect people's emotions and emotions, but also shape people's personality, the reason is that it can penetrate into people's hearts and have a great impact on people's hearts. It can be seen from the above that "ritual" stipulates a clear order and rules, while "music" can generally establish a peaceful atmosphere among people, so the ancient ritual education can promote harmonious coexistence between people.

"Show it likes and dislikes, but the people know it is forbidden." It is necessary to clearly tell people what they should advocate, what they like, what they dislike, and what they oppose, and the state should encourage and motivate those they advocate, and punish those who oppose and prohibit it, so that the people know what to do and what not to do, and they will not and dare not violate the prohibition.
