China Mobile firmly sat in the "C position" of the opening year, and the data of the three major operators in January 2022 was released

The years have turned, time has flown by, and in the blink of an eye, 2022 has begun. Yesterday, the three major operators released operational data for the first month of 2021. In January, the operational data of the three major operators achieved positive growth, which opened a good start to the new year.

Data Report: Three across the board with mobile leaders

The biggest change in this data report is that after the other two operators, China Mobile has also chosen not to publish 4G user data. This means that the three major operators may no longer be nostalgic for the eight-year-long 4G commercial battlefield, but choose to focus on expanding 5G users.

Operational data of the three major operators in January

Judging from the published data alone, China Mobile is a well-deserved "all-round king". According to the data, in the same month, the number of mobile customers of China Mobile increased by 4.497 million, and the total number of users reached 961.389 million. In January, the number of China Mobile's 5G package customers increased by 14.471 million to a total of 401.279 million.

In the same month, the number of China Mobile's cable broadband customers increased by 3.841 million, reaching a total of 243.947 million. After a rare negative growth in December, China Mobile's broadband business finally got back on track last month, with a net increase of 3.841 million in January. I have to admit that China Mobile's initiatives in fixed-line broadband are very correct. Network quality is always the lifeblood for operators, and the same is true in the field of wired broadband.

Subsequently, China Telecom released the main operating data for January 2022, although the growth was not as much as China Mobile, but overall, it maintained a steady and steady rhythm. According to the data, the number of mobile users of China Telecom increased by 3.07 million in the month, and the number of mobile users accumulated 375.5 million. Among them, the net increase of 5G package users was 8.26 million, and the number of 5G package users accumulated 196.06 million. In terms of wired broadband services, the number of wired broadband subscribers of China Telecom increased by 1.54 million in the month, and the cumulative number of wired broadband subscribers was 171.25 million.

Later, China Unicom released its January operating data. According to the data, China Unicom's mobile outbound users increased by 1.130 million in January, reaching a total of 318.245 million households. Among them, the net increase of 5G package users in January was 5.568 million, reaching a total of 160.496 million households. Fixed-line broadband subscribers increased by 1.036 million units this month, reaching a cumulative number of 96.082 million. Local telephone subscribers increased by 194,000 units this month to a total of 47.387 million.

Data comparison: 5G track racing leads the way

From a data point of view, in January, the 5G users of the three major operators continued to grow. It is foreseeable that whether it is business needs or policies, in the next many years, the three major operators will clash on the battlefield of 5G services.

In the field of 5G, the mainland already has an absolute advantage. The number of new 5G base stations was 654,000 in the whole year last year, and the total number of 5G base stations in the mainland accounted for more than 60% of the world; the number of 5G base stations per 10,000 people reached 10.1. The number of 5G mobile terminal connections reached 518 million. Last year, 5G investment was 184.9 billion yuan, accounting for 45.6% of telecom fixed asset investment.

This year, the mainland will also further increase the pace of 5G construction. Recently, 12 departments jointly issued new policies to guide telecom operators to accelerate the progress of 5G construction. Government documents and policies on 5G construction have also been released. A few days ago, Shanxi Province issued the "Implementation Rules for the Construction subsidy of 5G base stations (trial)", which determined that a one-time fixed subsidy of 5,000 yuan per station would be given to basic telecommunications enterprises to build and accept qualified 5G base stations in 2021-2023.

With the rollout of millions of 5G macro stations, especially the rapid landing of 700M 5G network construction, the mainland has basically completed the continuous coverage of 5G outdoors, and indoor coverage and deep coverage have become a new trend in the development of 5G networks, so operators' demand for small base stations has become more clear and urgent.

In the future, with the deployment of 5G small base stations by operators, users' perception of 5G will be more obvious. It is foreseeable that the indoor coverage of 5G will be one of the key factors for operators to win the 5G service.
