Electric vehicles also "leak oil"? Car owners collectively defended their rights, and Mercedes-Benz recalled more than 10,000 EQCs

Recently, according to the announcement on the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Beijing Benz Automobile launched a recall plan for EQC. The recall, which will begin on August 15, 2022, covers a portion of the Mercedes-Benz EQCs with production dates from November 30, 2018 to December 15, 2021, totaling 10,104 units.

The announcement shows that the recall is due to the manufacturing deviation of the electric drive module, and the cooling system in the electric drive module of the Mercedes-Benz EQC produced at the corresponding age may have insufficient sealing, resulting in coolant leakage. If the coolant is slightly infiltrated into the motor, the insulation resistance value of the high-voltage system may be reduced after long-term use, and the vehicle may not start in extreme cases. Coolant leakage does not meet the requirements of the relevant national mandatory standards on the sealing of the cooling system, under extreme conditions, the output power of the electric drive module of the vehicle will be reduced, and there is a safety hazard.

It is reported that Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will check the production serial number of the electric drive module for the vehicles within the scope of the recall through authorized dealers. If the vehicle is within the affected range, the improved electric drive module assembly will be replaced free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.

In addition, the announcement also reminds the owners who have not yet carried out the vehicle recall, if there is a relevant fault information prompt, they should contact the Mercedes-Benz authorized service center in time to deal with it.

Event review: At the end of January 2022, a joint statement about the owner of a Mercedes-Benz EQC was exposed on Weibo, asking Daimler China to admit that the Mercedes-Benz EQC motor had design defects and give the owner a reasonable answer as soon as possible. Because many Mercedes-Benz EQCs across the country have experienced rapid reduction of coolant for no reason, the vehicle cannot start and indicates a fault. When the owner went to the 4S shop to deal with the problem, he encountered a situation where the repair time exceeded the maximum repair time limit of the national warranty, which caused consumer dissatisfaction.

We see that after this matter was fermented for nearly a month, Mercedes-Benz filed a recall plan, which is a more timely response. But on the other hand, the recall will not start until August 15 this year, which means that car owners still need to "worry" for nearly half a year, I am afraid that it will not be able to satisfy users.
